Not too sure but I think that its not necessary if you are going thru. I just came back and I had my 520 all made out...I was hunting in S.A. They took mine but the guy I went with who had the same exact copy I had (off my printer) they didnt take his. He had to fill out one of theirs, I think because their print was a little smaller and came out on 8 pages instead of 10. Why they took mine I dont know, maybe because I was first in line and caught them a little off guard. Nobody had one except me. In fact, the girl there said no you need a form and I kept saying I had one but she didnt believe me until I showed it to her--then she let me thru.....

I had a telephone call from Hunters Support Air 2000 yesterday. For transitting Jo'burg for Botswana we are required to have a S.A. gun permit. Not only do we have to have SAPS 520 completed, but we also were told to FAX ASAP notarized copies of our passports and US4457 forms. We go through Jo'burg next Monday. This notarization requirement is new as of last week. This last minute bureaucracy stuff is taking away from my normal "pre-hunt enthusiasm"! D. Nelson

Yes I just got back Sunday. This could be but I know that they were all trying to do a good job and nobody was harassed in any way. Red tape=yeah. I just hope it dosnt get any worse but they were polite and helpful....
