During a recent game drive in the Kruger National Park, veteran game guide, Johann Lombard had a terrifyingly close encounter with a herd of elephant. He was showing a small group of tourists around the park, when the herd suddenly got irate and a large female decided it was time for the jeep to leave. The car was flipped over, but fortunately no one got hurt.

And you can see the zip on the rifle bag that is sitting on the dash board.....those rifles are merely ornamental for 99% of the photographic guides!

Somebody should be asking at what point the "guide" should remove his rifle from its' case and next, when he should use it for its' intended purpose, yes? Is not his first responsibility the protection of his clients? This incident could have had serious consequences.

I have been in vehicles charged by DG on a few occasions, both while armed and unarmed (through no fault of my own). I greatly prefer to be armed.

That was a small female. The big one stopped short an kicked dust.

Well what is the point of having it if they don't use it ?

(I know, probably to make the clients feel comfortable !).
