After reading several posts regarding long wait times for trophies to ship from Africa to the US, I have some good news. SBT and I finished our hunt in Namibia at the end of May. Just got word that our 14 animals (skins, skulls and horns) arrived in San Francisco yesterday. Basically, a 60 day turnaround. This was all due to our excellent outfitter and the shipper we used (at the outfitter's recommendation). Skins are now on their way to the tannery.

Do you mind sharing the names of your outfitter and shipper? Did you use a broker?

We'll see how it turns out, but the taxidermist I arranged to do some of my stuff and simply handle the dipping, etc. on the balance promised that I'd have it all, 3 finished mounts plus other skulls, horns, capes, etc. in 5 months. We shall see.

Outfitter was Ecki Meyer of Otjandaue Farms and the shipper was I.F.N. Airfreight Logistics out of Windhoek. Ecki delivered our trophies quickly and Chris at IFN was great at communicating with us.

Arts- our taxidermist is right here in my town and they are on the ball. They are well known for their African mounts and have done super work for SBT on his last safari.

Our state side broker was Maria Europa Felix of Hunter International out of San Francisco. She quickly handled our customs and Fish and Wildlife inspections and clearances. We prepaid our ship & dip fees ($534.00 each). Then, our taxidermist, Nature's Design in Cody, will pay Hunter International on our behalf thereby avoiding any storage fees. Maria can be contacted at: meuropa@sbcglobal.net

Not sure I catch your drift. I, too, generally use a local taxidermist--well, Reno, 175 miles--but there were incentives to have some work done over there this time. Never have before, I'll see how it works out. I, too, am using Hunter International on this end. I'll probably drive to SF to pick up my shipment, saving significantly on shipping to here.

I've used I.F.N. (International Freightways Namibia) a couple times and have received excellent service. I dealt with a Mr. Hufnagl and will use them again. -MN

Nice to know IFN and Hunter International are doing good service. My trophies, will be shipped from Namibia in the next few days following the same companies albeit a different destination.

Wayne if you are reading this, Maria of Hunter International was who we used on the recieveing end for our Tanzania trip. Things did work out after we got our communications straight from the Tanz end of things and I would not hesitate to use them again. "D"
