More to read from Dallas Safari Club. The bill defunds the US Fish and Wildlife Service ability to review and improve importation permits of lions and elephants legally hunted in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania. Buried in hundred pages of the bill is Sec. 439 covering the above. I sent a email to my congresswomen today, it took me 10 minutes. 4WD

This was sent to me from a PH in Zim today. I have been communicating with our Hunters Heritage team and our lobbyist advises 8294 is a Transportation, Housing and Urban DEVELOPMENT FUNDING Bill, NOT INTERIOR FUNDING.It is stalled and essentially dead. He has checked the Interior FUNDING Bill, Sect 439 is NOT in it. He is watching progress on both. This is foul play, and regardless where it is injected, if it were to pass, the affect is the same!!....ie aggregious regulation of African Wildlife Management, or destruction there of BY US CONGRESS!! This is not acceptable and every one of us should be writing our Representatives chastising them for allowing this kind of misguided behavior!! I will be writing me US Representative tomorrow explaining how destructive this type action is... with facts and data!! This is BAD BEHAVIOR BY ANY US REPRESENTATIVE!! DIRTY UNDER COVER DESTRUCTION!! 470EDDY

Why do you in America have so many tag on laws? Why can each law be enacted by itself? This is pure and simple cheating.

Saeed, The tag on or burying hidden impact legislation is very common in the US legislative system. What was done in this situation, ie imbedding wildlife and anti-hunting impact legislation within a Transportation and HUD bill is pure and simple subterfuge...and cheating, YES!! If there weren't hawks and watch dogs looking at each of these very complex and often hundreds to thousands of pages bills... these kinds of things can be slipped through... ie missed intentionally?? The impacts would be devastating in this case of eliminating imports of Lion and Elephants from Zim, Zambia and Tanzania!! On the other hand, there is some benefit of the tag on process.... ie if you have a bill that you want passed and it wouldn't stand on it's own two legs, they are often tagged onto a bill that will be passed, no questions asked!! This is US politics and legislative process!! GOOD< BAD< and UGLY!! We must be very vigilant in watching all of these funding bills. This abolition on Lion and Elephant has been injected into a number of earlier finding bills. Yes, each and every US Citizen should send a harsh letter to his/her Congressman/woman and chastise them for allowing this type of damaging legislative matters to be injected into any Bill of any nature. This type of specific anti-hunting and animal activist activity is dangerous and unprofessional and must be sanctioned at all costs!! If Representatives don't hear from their constituents and get their hands slapped, they run off doing all kinds of things behind our backs!! It is very hard to reverse something like this once passed!! Remember this kind of thing must be initiated in the House or Senate, passed by both and then read and signed by the President.... Right now, we are in Jeopardy!! 470EDDY
