Any guesses on weight? All I know is it is a heck of a lot bigger than anything I've shot.

The ivory has not been removed from the skull yet. It has been measured with certain assumptions applied. The lowest estimate is mid 90's. Some are saying over 100. Obviously, the length of the nerve has a lot to do with it.

Interestingly, Collen van der Linden took a picture of this bull on a prior hunt. It would not cross the boundary into Mahenye from the Gonarezhou.

I have done this hunt. It isn't for the timid. It can be downright boring. There isn't much there except elephants. However, the chance of a big elephant is there.

It can be extremely scary at night. One does all of the same things that you would do during the daylight except it is pitch black dark. Try walking into a big bull at 5 yards in the dark.

Anton, correct me if I am wrong. I think he shot a bull in the mid 70's. There was another that was MUCH bigger that no shot was available.

Assuming the measurements quoted are correct & working on the traditional calculation (and assuming my old brain is working (cos I can't find the damn calculator!)) it'd be mid to high 80s.

A very fine bull. tu2

Just FYI gentlemen.
I shot bull outside the Gonarezhou last year and measurements are 62" out of the skull and 18 & 1/2 at the lip. 84 lbs
But of course nerve and other factors play role in weight as well.
All I gotta say, seeing the picture, it definitely looks bigger then mine.
Hope he goes hundred. That would be cool. And congratulation to all parties involved.

When I got this email today I had to smile. Classic picture of Jonny. Blue shorts, green shirt no socks. At least he had shoes on. I am looking forward to another adventure with him in the next year or two.

The average man's love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty; and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies.

I have to agree. That bull is gorgeous, weight be damned. Of course, we all know that he has heavy tusks, but I can't imagine anyone would pass that bull up, ever, in their lifetime.
