Wink, I believe Bob Fontana was killed by an unprovoked/uninjured buffalo while hunting Lesser Kudu in Masailand. But I believe you are correct in stating that it is a rare occurrence when unprovoked/uninjured buffalo attack. Regards, Terry

Wink, When I was hunting in RSA Sept 03 a worker was killed by a 2yr old cape buffalo bull on a neighboring property. This bull was being kept for breeding stock and was loose on the property and had been there since he was a calf. The worker he killed was repairing the fences where the warthogs dig under them and had been working there for years so was not a stranger to being around these animals.

Wink, Many black Africans have been and will continue to be killed and maimed by Buffalo... Every year buffalo attacks occur and for various reasons, not the least of which is what appears to be unprovoked or because someone simply intruded their space.. Same with elephants, Hippo, and Lion, it happens from time to time. And crocs because they are hungry.. I don't know where you spent all that time in Africa, but you should of read the papers on ocassion, they are full of such events, at least in Tanzania and Zimbabwe with a few in RSA from time to time. From time to time, someone pops up in the forum allowing that dangerous game is not dangerous..Why, I have no clue, just foot n mouth desease I suppose.
