Any experience with using the 350 Barnes XLC in the Lott along with 500's on the same safari. Seems to me a good option for covering a plains game scenaro that presents itself while DG hunting. For those who have carried this battery, what have you done for a scope? How do the two loads compare in the field? I'm thinking the Talley removables for a low power scope to accomodate the 350's. The plan would be to primarily carry the .470 NE for DG, but teh Lott as a backup and ultimately plains game. With weight restrictions, the .375 may have to stay home on a trip like that. Finally, for those with experience, what load for the 350's has worked in the Ruger action and barrel for you? Thanks, all.

Too complicated for me, but sounds viable for someone who is extremely organized and can keep his ammunition straight and knows what he will be hunting day to day.

Hi Bwana, A bit different scenario, bit I did something similar to this on my last hunt: http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/9651002591 None of my .450 or .500 grain loads shot close to the .350's, the lighter/faster bullets shoot high-and-right in my Ruger, 2-3 inches as compared to the 450 (Northfork soft) and more vs .500gr Woodleigh solids. What you are looking to do sounds like it will work just fine, and the .350gr is a real nice shooting round in the hefty Ruger. I have my load data in the report (84 grains H335 ~2550fps, although I was originally trying to buy Reloader7 which was not available at the time; IMR 3031 is another favored powder for this bullet), but please let me know if I can answer any specific questions.

Well, to keep your ammo in proper order take some magic markers of different colors and paint a big ring around each particular loading and remember well what color corresponds to that loading. Black would be for your heaviest bullet loading because it is the darkest/heaviest color and red would work for your lightest bullet loading and green would work for something in between because it is darker/heaver than red. I would never consider a 458 Lott as a back-up to the less powerful 470 nitro unless you did have it loaded with 350 grainers.
