Yo ! A week or so ago there was an article about a weapons cache seized in Zim ... maybe at Mutare ?? Does anyone have any more info on this ? I have a great friend in South Africa (Ex- Rhodesian) who thinks that the chap arrested is a son of old family friends .. She has phoned one or two people in Zimbabwe but apparently there is a lot of fear of tapped phones and e mails being checked .. I would appreciate any news here .. I want to go back and hunt in 2007 ... I haven't been in that country since 1996 and I know I am going to be greatly distressed when I do ... Thanks, amigos for any help that you can offer or suggest ...

If you want current news go to www.zimbabwesituation.com and it is updated several times daily. I think it's run by 2 women in Australia. Seems to be accurate and has good reports on the Arms Cache deal. I read it every morn. SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS

Something about this whole set up doesn't sit right. Mike "Rambo" Hitschman is a well nown, power hungry (ravenous more like it) pro Mugabe man. Certainly in the late 90's he had direct access to the President and managed to get at least one important conservation decision made by parks overturned to suit his own whims. (parks were trying to move a lone white rhino cow from a small game park near Mutare to shomewhere she could breed. Hitchman went to the president and eventually the cow died alone there.) Also, there were only two things in the "weapons Cache" that were difficult to explain- the AK and the silenced H&K MP5. Everything else could easily be explained away under his firearms dealers license or a police Issue Voucher - eg- the tear gass was widely issued to "loyal" police reserve during the 2000 & 2002 elections. Issue Vouchers never expire so left over stock can still be held provided he remains a policeman and they are not asked for. Also a Semi Auto AK is legal here and the Army and Police have issued Full Auto AKS on occasion to reservists for service rifle competition.
