The Saga over the sale of Chewore South is ongoing. The consortium that initially bought it at the auction failed to pay (US$12 million is alot of shilling in any mans language!), so it was offered to the second highest bidder - Who had until Thursday night to come up with the loot. Parks are unhappy that nobody else was even close. No 3 backed out of the aution when the price reached equivalent of US$4 million, so as of today, it looks as though the area will have to be re-auctioned!

yukon deltaThanks for the update. I'm not surprised at this and thought the auction might have to be redone. You never know in Africa how they will handle that stuff.

N E 450 No2For the first 15 days of my last Safari I hunted Cheowore South, staying at Westerns Safari Camp. I was hunting with Brooklands Safaris.
They ran a nice good camp.
I took a buff, zebra, baboon, bull elephant, and a lion. Could have taken a leopard but he was on a lion bait, and we did not want to spook a lion that had been feeding and might be nearby.
It was a great hunt. The only down side was the Tetse flys, there was a LOT of them.
I hope the 3 prior companies regain the hunting rights there, as they are in the business for the long haul.

ledvmAbsolutely great news!!! I will be there in late Oct early Nov. Can't wait to hear the speculation. It would be great if John Rosenfels, Rodger Whitall, and Barrie Duckworth could keep that concession.
