Hello

Fortunately this is the internet and you are all far from me, otherwise I could be lynched for providing this info without proof! I just couldn't help myself. I hope my record of posting pictures stands me in some kind of stead when I assure you that I shall get my hands on the photos soon. In fact, I'm sure this post will prompt my brother to send them ASAP, as well as info relevant to them. Enough excuses: the fact is that Mike Streetman has just taken two 60+ pound elephant bulls with Zambezi Hunters, in as many weeks. Reliable sources inform me that they are both in the mid sixties. So, three 2008 elephant bull hunts with Jonathan Hulme and Zambezi Hunters have resulted in 55, 70, and two mid 60 pound tuskers respectively. Pretty good average. And there is still one more to come. I will tell you about buffalo and leopard averages when I have all the relevant info and pictures. They are also impressive.

Congratulations to Zambezi Hunters and their clients. Jon, send me the pictures quick!

Dave

No offense, but I would not consider tusks in the 50-70lb. range as 'huge'. Decent, yes, but not 'huge'.

And we are living in this day and age. 40 pounds is decent. Selous wrote of fifty pounders as being big bulls. Do you suggest I change my post header to 'ZH takes two decent bulls?' Let's have a consensus...

Dave

But no offence taken, none at all. It is difficult to offend someone involved in the taking of a 60 pound bull, even if that fellow wasn't there and is simply reporting the fact!

Don't worry about George taking you to tusk..... he doesn't mean it. Wink

Whoops, there goes that hair trigger sense of humour again! rotflmo

Very nice bulls for Zim though and esp nice to take two. Congratulations to both the client and the PH Wink

Congratulations to the hunter and Zambezi Hunters!!! I know how hard Johnnie and Amos work to put their clients on trophies. My best wishes for their continued success.

I noticed Johnnie still has his "trademark hair style".

Thanks for posting the photos.

Okay, I'll go as far as 'nice' or 'excellent for Zimbabwe these days', but definitely not 'huge'. Big Grin

I think a superlative should be used sparingly, otherwise it's just another adjective. Wink

P.S. Any elephant is bigger than the ones I've shot (none, except in my dreams), but I'd hold out for an 'OhmiGOD!' bull. Cool

Dave,

I am so glad to see that Mike finally got his Elephant. He has been trying for a good one for awhile now. I know he is over the moon now and sure he will be here in my office telling the whole story the day he gets back. Might have to take him for lunch for this story. He was in my office the day before he left all excited about the elephant Anton took, and I told him this would his time.

Has he shown you the 50" & 45" Buffalo he took with us in Tanzania?

Hello Adam,

Please encourage Mike to do a short write up for us about this hunt, and his Tanzania hunt, if he doesn't mind. I know all on AR would really enjoy that. I have not seen pictures of his buffalo but would very much like to. Do you have them? Could you post them?

I am most pleased to make your acquantance sir, even if it is only in cyberspace. I have heard a lot of positive about you and your outfit.

Respectfully, Dave

Dave, send me an e-mail and will e-mail you his Buff pictures. I do not check AR that much so better to e-mail me.

You need to come over with Johnny sometime as he visits my office every year when he is here staying with Mike and busy shooting all of the doubles here at our gun range close by. I guess I will owe Johnny a lunch as well this time for doing such a great job this year! Back to work now, so e-mail me.

I am taking the liberty of adding some photos just sent to me by Adam Clements. When you see the pictures you'll understand why! Here are Mike and Melissa Streetman's buffalo bulls taken with Adam Clements. Mike's is 50 inches and Melissa's 45. All I can say is wow. Make that WOW! It seems the hunting Gods have been smiling on Mr Mike Streetman of late.

This buffalo is huge. No doubt about that!

One question though, what is the deal with the harry legs on the buffalo? I don't recall ever seeing that before. Is it common in parts of Tanzania?

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Wow! What colossal buffalo! I noticed the hairy legs too. I guess Adam goes for the more natural unshaven look with his buffalo! jumping

Great trophies all around.

That buff is a throwback to the sixties. They used to call them hippies but the term was so often confused with hippos that they changed it to dagga boy. banana

David,

Thanks for sharing, now I am never going to hear the end of it. My only come back for Mike will be one word, "leopard."

I am close to having something worked out with Nina...until then I guess I am going to have to listen to Mike tell his story.

He called me three or four times with the SAT phone, but my cell was off every time. Bummer, it would have been nice to hear the details direct from the bush shortly after it happened. By the time he gets home I am sure there will be a real story behind the hunt.

If you believe that hard work and skill equal luck, then I must be one of the laziest, unskilled hunters around. Those animals that Mike took far exceed anything I've taken or even seen.
