Adcrook - What you say about Chippy may all be well and good, but the way he portrays himself, filty language and all, you are probably the only one here who would believe it!!!

Switching back and forth on computers must get confusing at times?? Probably hard to keep track if your posting as Adcrook or Chippy, huh?? I knew a kid back in grade school who had several imaginary friends, used to talk to them outloud and all, maybe he grew up and still acts the same way??

I know Chipolopolo personally and he is no troll, i.e Carmelo or Cats, but rather is a very experienced African hunter with a lot to offer. Steve is the real deal.

Larry,

That is bullshit and you know it. You know damn well who chipolopolo is and you also damn well know that he has more time on the ground and more experience in Africa than 99% of the guys who post on these forums.

What he objects to is all of the chest thumping and hero worship that goes on around here as well as the one hit wonder bwanas with a trip to Namibia or RSA for a PG hunt under their belts who are are suddenly experts on all things Africa.

Andy; I have no issues with Chipo's opinion on Craig's writings or that he objects to his hunting methods. It's the lies I object to. That's it. jorge

Andy and chipshot may both be rather homophobic, and perhaps even seperated at birth,, but it is fairly obvious that they are not one and the same.

Jorge,

That's fair. I respect you and consider you a friend.

Bucko,

Thanks, you pretty much summed it up.

Adrook - I have no clue who Chippy is?? What makes you think that I should know him or you for that matter? Just because he lives in the State next to mine doesn't mean I know everyone in Arizona. Since I don't know him, I also have no clue what his experience and on the ground time in Africa is. You are way off base on this one!! I object to the extremly foul language used, we do have younger folks who read and post here, and the always negative attitude you and he always portray. If you and Chippy have indeed ever been to Africa I am sure you were one hit wonders at some time too, right??

Keep it clean, stop the lying, and positive up. Maybe then people here will start to believe you??

Yes, we've both been to Africa and haven't lied about anything. If Steve says that a PH told him that Boddington tried to cop a free safari in exchange for a favorable article or video, whatever it was, I believe him. Just like I believe the old-time PH who told me that PHC was a phony, and also told Steve and GarBy, another AR member here, the same stories. I also believe two other Zambian PHs who told me the same types of things about PHC. Just like I believe another PH who told me that Ken Wilson of Sportsmen on Film tried to score a free hunt in exchange for making a favorable video. Just because these things may shatter people's images of their heroes doesn't mean they are lies.

I am sure the the video team turned down more shooting ops than that actually videoed due to light or position of the animal or something that prevented a shot on film.

I admire these guys but could never do their job. They spend 100 or more days a year in the field, away from home sleeping tents and doing what they do. It would get real old real fast, especially if the animals were not there.

Fulson, Boddington, Buzz Charlton, Ivan Carter, Mark Watts and others are hard working guys that do what they love - but it comes at a price.

I would not want to be CB at a hunting convention a listen to all of the drivel from a world of wannabees.

I don't know what you do in the "energy field" but whatever it is it must be pretty exciting to consider what those TV guys do as admirable. I'm in the civil service field (like CB used to be) and "spend 100 or more days a year in the field" etc., etc. and have had people knock on my tent and ask if I'm a volunteer - so if CB is ever asking for voulunteers - I'm there!

Um...is someone shocked that anyone who writes would try to snag a free hunt in exchange for favorable press???

I guess all those articles, shows and video tapes were made on hunts that are paid at full freight.

You have got to be kidding me. And finally what is the big deal...

He is the guy who is spending 8 months of the year doing research on lion numbers in terrible war torn countries like C.A.R, for the benefit of hunters. He's not filming himself and making big $$ and trying to become a hero out of the hunting industry. CB is on the take from most hunting operations. It is time he started paying for his hunting and not being payed to hunt.

Timot,

Would you be kind enough to invite anyone who has provided Craig with a free hunt to come forward and tells us the details?

That will put the matter to rest.

My response is not an inference that CB gets hunts for free. I would just like to shine a little light on the magazine industry. Advertisers are well aware that there is no better advertisement than a feature article or mention of their product in an article in a publication with high circulation. This is exposure that you cannot buy. They are mostly well aware of that and when I worked in automotive publications, expensive parts were thrown at us for ink. That's just the way it works. Some take advantage of that, while others exercise restraint. But, again, this is how the magazine industry works -- period.

A man of CB's caliber doesn't need to solicit anyone for "free hunts." Not only that, he enjoys a great reputation for being a class act and not a scam artist that chases free hunts. I think envy drives these posts and it is more than a little sad that some need (timot -- this is not directed at you) to belittle those who have done well in the industry and for the industry.

Saeed,

Craig has hunted with our outfitting business over a dozen times and has NEVER asked for anything free. Those hunts encompassed $4500.00 Coues deer hunts to $60,000.00 Desert Sheep hunts, and they were paid in full every time with out exception. I have also accompanied him to Africa, the latest was in March of 2008 for Lord Derby in the Cameroon. This hunt was filmed for his "Tracks Across Africa" TV show and I watched him write the checks just as I did. I personally know this man and can attest to his character.

Seead,

This thread's starting topic has nothing to do with African hunting and everything to do with personal attacks. Can we please shut it down or move it to another thread. Thank you.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
