I've had both mine done, shooting side Jan '15. Am concerned how much recoil it can stand. I'd sure hate to wreck it. As many big bore shooters as there is on here I half expect others have some experience's with this situation. Many thanks, George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Not going to chance it after a football career. Am using suppressors from now on.... It helps more than I realized.

hven't had a replacement, just rotater cuff repair about five years ago. I had to lay off big bores for a few months, and have been pretty compulsive about recoil protection since. Check out the Evo-shield shirt. https://www.amazon.com/EvoShie...-Shirt/dp/B006JH8NZM I just came in from shooting my 416 Rigby and 470 NE, prepping for a hunt. It makes a huge difference. I haven't worried about a shot or two hunting, but the cumulative effect of recoi8l, I think, can be mitigated with a little protection.

Ask any old big bore shooter how his bursitis is going! But hay, most wouldn't have it any other way.. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Gents, I am a shoulder specialist and teach courses on shoulder replacement. I actually am in need of one myself. I shoot my 500 NE and 416 on my "bad shoulder". I let my post op shoulder replacement patients go back to shooting whatever they want. The key, as you know, is to lock it in and you should actually lock it in more on the chest than directly on the shoulder. The butt of the rifle should sit just under the mid point of the clavicle or collar bone and should not put much direct pressure on the ball and socket joint itself. In other words, keep shooting. Hey Doc: That's the way I hold 'em anyway. How soon? This rifle kicks about like Dad's .375H&H w/ 300's hunting loads. Had the shooting shoulder replaced Jan '15. Seems to be doing real well. The L one was Feb '14, I seldom shoot from the L side, should but don't and never the big stuff except revolvers with left hand. Thanks much, that's more along what I was hoping to hear. I have had work on both shoulders although not replacements. Pretty serious work . It has not been a problem ever. As someone mentioned , get an Evoshield shirt . They are amazing.

That's the way I shoot mine. Funny thing; I'd had a nagging right shoulder bursitis for 2 or 3 months. I then had a bench session with a 460 Weatherby sending 18 bullets down range. Two or 3 days letter, my shoulder felt better. I'm thinking I may have broken some adhesions.

George; While this is not exactly the same thing, I will give you an example of their effectiveness. On my first trip to Argentina to shoot high volume doves, I took a PAST pad. My should was literally bleeding at end of the 3 days. With an Evo-Shield shirt after as much or more shooting, there is not even a mark on my shoulder. Fantastic invention.

Another suggestion: Ken Rucker's "Bump Buster" Hydraulic Recoil Reduction System. See: http://bumpbuster.blogspot.com Works great on my .375 H&H
