Sable hunt

GillettehunterSable hunt
I just saw Tom's post about a hunt for Sable and other animals in Zambia in hunts offered. Sable is currently near the top of my most wanted list. The price listed seems good especially considering the other animals. It is really at the top of my budget.... Anyone else seen a good sable hunt for less? I'd still want to shoot a couple of other animals. Looking at the 7-9 days time frame. May be able to get a friend to go if multiple people helps bring the cost down. Just want to see if anyone has any other specials out there before I look further at Tom's offer. Thanks for any help. Bruce

safari-lawyer10k is about the bottom for a fenced sable in a reasonable sized area, IMO.
1000-1350 per day times 10 or 12 days for sable and buff in a free range area.
Guy Whittal has a nice deal for free range sable in Moz that is less than 10k.
Sable are glamour antelope and are not cheap these days. 30 years ago, they were dime a dozen in Zim and could be hunted as "relatively" common game. Those days are gone.

BwannaNice sable in the Valley in Zim - check Chifuti, Buzz or HHK. However, they are generally shot as an add on to a buff or leopard hunt which obviously drives the price quite a bit.
I've seen them bantered a bit from South Africa, but you may get a more "fenced" experience than you get in other venues.
Check with Arjin Reddy - "Reddy375" I believe on the site here. He has occasionally posted some good sable deals in RSA.

SBTGillettehunter,
I've looked the sable hunting over pretty well and find Guy Whittal's offer to the the lowest cost for an area rich in free range sable.

lavacaSable is on my list in Tanz this year. And Will is right -- it's no longer cheap, but still a bargain. You only live once.

Michael RobinsonI have chased sable and eland for many years. Neither has ever been my primary quarry, but I have spent many days afield chasing them, all without success. So, I have booked a hunt in Mozambique with Guy Whittall for later this year. Good, representative sable and eland bulls are all I really care to hunt this time out. Guy seems to have a great concession - wide open and free range - and I am hoping for the best!

AFRICAN LEADWOODA sable only hunt will be pricey. The day rates are what get you. If you can afford a hunt for other game and do sable also the sable become more "affordable" as a stand alone item. Of course the overall cost is higher. If I were price sensitive and intended to hunt other game some time I'd delay things to be able to put two hunts together.

ozhunterMark H Young can offer good options for Sable and Eland in the remote north of Mozambique.
Ideally this hunt is best during September/ October.
They are Roosevelt Sable up there.

I may be wrong but your bargain should also include Roan and Gr.Kudu, among other species.

Sorry guys been a bit lazy and busy,
my father died as well since my return.
I will I promise. The sable by far is the best trophy I have ever taken. I should have my hands on it again by Thursday

lavacafujotupu,
Your are correct on the Roan, but I gave up the kudu as part of a negotiated deal, as it there was a limited quota and I really don't need another one.

GillettehunterThanks for the help. I have a couple of leads and am looking at several options. I really want to take some other animals rather than just a Sable. Need to spread the cost out among several. I've learned a lot and I'm very grateful for the help and suggestions. Any other suggestions? I'm still listening. Thanks Bruce

TexasHunterWow Jeff - 49" - would love to see the pics. I have a 40" Sable, but adding 25% more length would be awesome!

Wendell ReichHard to beat Zambeze Delta Safaris in Mozambique. More Sable there than you can count. 10-day hunt. Good solid Sable Buff combo.
Safaris de Mocambique, great Sable Buffalo area. I swear, they take some of the biggest Buffalo in Southern Africa. An unbelievable Buffalo area.
These are my top two pics for Sable/Buff.

Welcome to AR hunter123. Why don't you introduce yourself, your operation and area? Would create a feeling of trust, you know?
Hope you have had some good rains up north.

I thought Curtis had hounds as well - I know for a fact he does leopard with hounds (unless he borrows yours).
