PETA - the horrible shits
I'm putting this here, rather than under politics, because I believe it affects both, but Politics here is poisonous

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2...pher_macaque_selfie/

A photographer set up a camera to take a photo of a monkey when it touched a button and got a good "monkey selfie" - PETA believes that the monkey owns the copyright to the photo, since it took the photo.

IF they win, then animals can own property. If animals can own property, then they are people. If they are people, hunters will be murdering them.

I detest PETA.

PETA is proof unto itself that...there is a huge population of really stupid people in the world. Frowner

A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

Monkey has the same IQ as Peta supporters, no wonder they believe it has rights.

I'm sorry but you are either insulting the monkey or giving PETA far too much credit.

In the States any copyright requires an author. Under American law, authors are people. So it's a frivolous suit. Somewhere I read that a guy had worked out what the suit would cost, and it was in five figures. So surely, spending that amount of donor money on something like this is fraud?

did the monkey have explicit, written permission to use the camera?

if not, this is an act of vandalisim, and should be referrred to the proper local authorities for processing.

photographer can counter sue for being made to look like a monkee. Loss of business, etc.

NO! The monkey must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for swiping the guy's camera!

are we now able to arrest the monkeys at the zoo for masturbating in public and flinging feces at people?

Those monkeys shouldn't be in the zoo - if you gave them their human right to privacy, they would be able to do whatever consenting adults do in their own homes or in the streets if they really want to rub it in.

I am being ironical - I just can't find a font for Irony.
