I will also be over there but slightly earlier.
A mate just returned from a successful Elephant safari and said that the rains are reducing now.

Rains expected to dissipate

Chronicle Reporter
March 19, 2010

THE rains which have been falling countrywide since the beginning of the week, are expected to start dissipating, a meteorological officer said yesterday.
In an interview, a senior meteorological officer based at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo, Mr Rogers Munyira, said isolated showers were expected in the country yesterday.
“Tomorrow (today), we expect the rains to be limited to the central watershed and the day after (Saturday) activity will be limited to Kariba and the Zambezi Valley. The rains are drifting northwards,” he said.
Of late, most parts of the country have been receiving light showers, bringing a measure of relief to farmers who are concerned about lack of pastures and water for their animals. The rains were, however, not enough to cause most rivers to flow.
Crops in several parts of the country also failed because of the long dry spell which hit the country.
The drought was mostly felt in Matabeleland South, Midlands, Masvingo, parts of Manicaland and Mashonaland Central provinces.
Officially, Zimbabwe’s rainy season ends in April, but a large hectarage of the maize crop has already been declared a write-off.

Got back last Tuesday.,,it rained up until we arrived 10 days earlier, but was dry throughout our stay. You should be good-to-go, except the jess is really heavy. If you're Ele hunting, you'll learn to judge trophy quality by see a foot, tail, and part of an ear!!!

I arrived in Zimbabwe (Chirisa)on May 3. I never saw a drop of rain in the next three weeks. (Very lush growth and waterholes everywheres of all kinds of sizes, though) Big bonus!-I never saw a snake. I gather that it was still "winter" for them. Whatever. I claim the record book title for being in the African bush for nearly a month and never seeing a snake. Yes, Lord, I do thank you to this day!
