kutenaymtnboy: Glad we sorted that out! It is easy to get things wrong with only a few lines of text coming through the anonymous internet. I had a look at a few of your other posts, and I can see you are a guy I'd be happy share a duck blind with! Cheers from a Canuck in Sweden, jpb Quote:

Roger I emailed pictures to the BOD and everyone is very pleased, thank you. If anyone is around Seattle and would like to attend please drop me a PM or email at gatorator@earthlink.net Wayne Van Zwoll will also be there as well af a couple of Weatherby and SCI Hunter of the Year winners. We are also planning on giving the Canadian Possession and Aquisition License course Sunday morning. This license, PAL, allows you to buy, sell and possess firearms and ammunition in Canada.

Quote: I have a question about this. If someone from the US is able to obtain this licence. Can he/she leave (sell) guns to Canadians say, after a hunt up here? Chuck

Chuck: Importing *to* Canuckistan is reasonably easy. The problem is (as I have understood from the US State Dept website)that the rifle needs to be exported from the US by a FFL holder (most of whom won't bother with export permits). Figure 3 or 4 months delay, and of course some extra cash. jpb

I understand the exporting business and that is why I was wondering if this "alternative" would be viable as well as legal.

Roger, That is very elegant work! I am looking forward to the engraving you are doing for San Diego SCI. Since Craig Boddington is speaking to our SCI Chapter in San Diego on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 I will have to tell him that the gift in Seattle is from all of us. jim dodd

This may seem a trifle off the topic, but, most of us here in Canada find the use of the term, "Canuckistan" to be highly offensive. In my case, FIVE men of my immediate family served as volunteers to rid Europe of the Nazis, two of them were W.I.A. I wonder if neutral Sweden would have survived, or, suffered the same fate as Norway had we not lost more than 40,000 or our young men from '39-45, fighting to save Europe? Perhaps we should also consider which nation in Europe is perhaps the most socialistic? I trust that this sort of remark will NOT be repeated.

Actually it probably will be repeated. I think that you should understand the spirit in which it was said. It is a tongue in cheek thing, jest. Just like they call California things like People's repubplic of California, Kalifornia etc. This is normally what non-liberal, hunter, outdoorsy, shooting sport loving, red blooded north american continent dwelling men say to make pokes at the political situations in certain areas of our country. It is not meant to be offensive, unless of course you are a Green Peace associate, work with Feinstein or Boxer (in California), or in some other way want to steal rights from citizens. And on an aside, there are other "istans" outside of Europe, some that had nothing to do with Nazi conquest or the fight against it. The reason it is a slam against the political bandits is that none of the "istan" countries that come to mind have fair forms of government that take into account the wants and rights of their constituency. Moving it back to topic..... Roger, the circle of gold inlay that you did and gave the lesson on, what is the progress with that, is there more for us to see now that you could post? I would really appreciate a brief lesson with pictures on how the animals and other things are done? I was looking at a picture in a mag this month of a Westly Richards 410 shotgun that had hummingbirds and flowers etc. on it. Just wondering how it is all anchored. Red

Hi kutenaymtnboy: The term was not intended in the way you think, and it was intended to be tongue-in-cheek. No offense intended -- I hold Canadian citizenship still! The term was a tongue-in-cheek comment on the sad loss of rights that Canadians have endured during the last few years (e.g. the right to remain silent if questioned by police; Canadians are now compelled by law to assist the police if the police even claim that illegal firearms are at issue). For example, if the police get an anonymous tip that you have information about illegal firearms on your computer, you are compelled to assist them by uncoding any coded info on that computer (and if they find something else that is unrelated (e.g. cheating on your taxes), that will still be admisible in court, unlike countries like the US where this would not happen). As I understand it, Canada is currently the only country in the world whose law is based on English Common Law where one commits an offence if one does actively assist police in their own prosectution (persecution?). There are a number of other similarities between the current rights of gun owners in Canada and the former Soviet Union regarding legal rights (property ownership among others, because a simple Order-in-Council can now declare any firearm illegal and subject to confiscation without compensation). I could go on, but I won't because we've highjacked this thread too much already! This is what I meant by the Canuckistan term. Keep your chin up and don't vote Liberal! Canadians have lost more civil rights under the liberals in the past decade than most Canadians realize, and I like to remind us of it from time to time. jpb

I saw Dago Red's post after I posted mine. He is correct regarding the spirit in which I made my post! As I noted above (but which you could not know), I am indeed a Canadian citizen (Canuck, Frostback, User of the Northern Peso... myself, and sometimes I get the urge to to poke fun at Canada (and Sweden, and even the US because I've lived in all 3 countries... and all 3 are less than perfect in some way! Best wishes, jpb

Point taken, no problem, I am just as offended by that Canadian Liberal M.P. who called our American friends, including many of my close relatives "bastards". Sorry for "hi-jacking", but, I am a hardcore patriot. I have been involved in pro-gun and wilderness-wildlife conservation activities for 40+ years and I loath Boxer, Feinstein, Schumer, Chretien, Rock and Cukier as much as any redblooded, outdoorsy, decent human could-and should!
