As I have promised to keep you all up to date....Ray phoned me yesterday wanting to know if I wanted to change the hunt back to the original 16 days that I had won in the raffle. Since I have not lost confidence in he or Pierre, I assured him that my original intentions were still there...extend the hunt to 21 days (at my own expense). My wife and I will be sitting down with Ray and Pierre in Dallas in January, to iron out the details. We will keep all you AR members up to date with our preparations. Kathi Klimes is handling the transportation arrangements, as she has several times in the past.
Believe me when I say...our enthusiasm for the upcoming hunt has not been dampened, and we still feel humbly grateful to all on (and some now off) AR who are making this possible.

What will retreever be hunting??? If it moves its DEAD... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Seriously, the deal is 2 buf, zebra, warthog, impala, Nyasa wildebeaste, waterbuck, topi, and hartebeast...The reason I extended the hunt was to have a full bag safari..
I will be concentrating on leopard and lion, the ele will be an animal of opportunity as well as a flatdog...hippo for bait
This is a life long dream come true hunt and I am going to enjoy each and every day...
I am not sure where in the Selous yet but we have discussed R2 I believe and will be there from July 24, thru August 14...

Mike

At the beginning of the year, Saeed, Ray and Pierr Van Tonder arranged for a hunt sponsored by Saeed himself and retreever was the grand prize winner. As stated, he upgraded his hunt to a 21 day one.

As wished before good luck and hope the safari is enjoyable and you have lots of photos to share afterwards.

It was good of Ray to make that offer to revise.

Ray gave me the choice of my money back or continuing with my 16 day hunt next Oct., I wrote back and said I'm in for the hunt. It seems he believes in his product and is gentlemanly enough to take a loss if need be. I too am looking forward to my once in a lifetime experience.

Mike,
Glad to hear your enthusiasm is still high! Unless you are going to western Tz, you won't get a chance at Topi. Definetely add a hippo for lion bait and what about a sable? Eland?

Good hunting!

Bulldog, I got to thinking about this while reading this thread. In the little over 3 years that I've been here there have been raffles for:
1. A Cape Buffalo hunt with a 45/70

2. A Butch Searcy Double rifle

3. A Duane Wiebe custom takedown Mauser 500 Jeffery (I won that!!!)

and

4. This 16 day Tanzanian hunt that retreever won.
