Help With Breakdown Case - Goshen Supply Company??

Dear All,

I need some help with a breakdown case for my African trip this September.

I have been looking for a fairly light, breakdown case for transport inside my duffel. As it turns out, the dimensions (35x13x4", OD) of this one would be just about ideal. It is advertized for sale on Guns America by a company named "Goshen Supply Co.". The price looks pretty decent as well (he has another auction where the case is offered 1 a piece, although that auction has no pictures, so I'll link to this one...).

Goshen Supply Case - With Pictures

Anybody know anything about this case?? Weight?? Quality?? It does not need to be as sturdy as some of the best cases, like Storm etc., but it does need to be a good deal lighter to allow me to live with European luggage limits... What about the company, anybody ever dealt with them?? Any experience you could share would be much appreciated...

In case this one is no good, any other ideas for a case with OD 35x13x4" (just about ideal)?? Preferably with foam on the inside - either egg foam or customizable?? Sadly, weight and price is an issue...

Thanks a ton in advance.

- mike

Thanks Clift, but from what I have seen of Americase thus far, they are too heavy and too bulky for my needs - although of excellent quality.

I don't know anything about Goshen. But I hear good things about Pelican. They have a case size for just about everything and you don't hear too many complaints. They will even pre-cut a customized foam interior for you.

The Pelican 1700 series would probably have the dimensions you are looking for.

Why not call him up? He lists his phone number. BTW is it $298 for all three or just one? If it is just one, then you are up there with some pretty good cases. Have you tried Jeff's Outfitters?

Wink, I'd love a Pelican (or a Storm). Sadly, I have yet to see one that would fit inside my duffle, let alone leave me with anything but a token luggage allowance for the remainder of my gear. (Even the 1700 is too large and too heavy for my needs).

Peter, I will call him up next week. I was hoping somebody might already have experience with these cases and be able to provide a neutral opinion, though. It is kind of risky to buy such merchandise unseen via mail-order, although I may well end up doing just that. I think he sells the individual cases for $100-150 depending on how you read his other auction. So the price is OK.
I'm just not sure what I would get for the $$$.

Odie, do you have any experience with Ziegel products? They look pretty damn good, and the price is right.
mho, I just thought that at least he could give you the weight, which seemed to be your main concern.

I've had a double rifle case from Ziegel Engineering for over 10 years.

It's a little beat up but it's held together in spite of the abuse dished out by the airlines. I can't say the same for the Americase I used to use.
