I believe that Cabelas books for "Inyathi Hunters" in Zim. I am sure they will tell you if you ask.

Might want to do a search on AR and also contact SCI for hunt reports if you are a member.

I have booked with them, plains game in RSA in 2001, and have mixed feelings on their service or rather their follow up. The hunt was fine but we booked our flights through them and that was a mistake at the time in 2001. Very poor follow up by the CSR, as they were booking through a third party and we had to fax our credit cards to that party, etc. Took a month to get tickets. Should have called Gracy or now Kathi for quick efficient results. We also agreed on some animal substitutions on their hunt package. Upon arrival in RSA the outfitter was unaware of the changes and was somewhat hesitant until I showed him the correspondence from Cabelas noting the changes. He agreed to our new package but I am sure he had a discussion with Cabelas regarding unauthorized exchanges. Again, no problems with the hunt or outfitter.

As far as follow up, we have not heard a word from the Cabelas rep, unless we saw him at the SCI convention. All in all, they seem to be operating on new numbers not follow up with exisiting clients. I do receive their trip catalog so I guess they consider that customer service.

Bottom line, I am not sure if I would book again with them as I now know many booking agents with a more personal touch. My hunt was fine animals and camp very good, so my comments are about their service not the hunts they offer.

A picture of me with my gemsbok was used in their advertising for the following year and I enjoyed that. All in all, a good hunt but just OK with Cabelas as a booking agent.

Regards,

RCG

Personally I think you can get much better service with an agent other than Cabelas. Of course the advantage of going with an outfit like Cabelas is that they have the money to cover any screw-up. But their reputation for service and quality is not so hot from the handful of accounts I have heard, so they would not be my first choice.

i lost all confidence in them when an old ph of mine recognized a leopard he had shot and they had it on display as it was one of their outfitters. When he asked them they sure did a quick duck under the table

I have booked two hunts thru them - one in New Mexico (I first met USO thru them nuff said) which I did not like for many reasons, gave them second chance in Namibia and no chance for a third FU.

Magnum Hunter 1,

Here are some posts that resulted from my calling about their hunts last year. I knew nothing then, now I know less than nothing about buffalo hunting.

That said, they did not inspire any faith. All I got was the area and outfitters name. They couldn't give me anything else unless I sent them money.

Now I'm going to start reading my old post to see how much of my mind has gone away since I first got "Buffalo Brain".

RIP and other Doctors, are there any clinics or studies on this affliction?

I have not booked an African hunt through Cabale's, so I cannot provide an informed opinion on their African Service. But I have booked a NA hunt through Cabela's and they were first rate. They wanted me to book my flights with them but I got better rates on my own (actually Kathi Klimes booked by flights for me). But most booking agents charge more for travel arrangements, so that is nothing new or different. I thought that their service, however, was excellent. Cabela's provides a wide range of options in cost, location, and expectations, and I found that useful. My trip went exactly as planned, there were no surprizes, and I felt that I got more than what I paid for. I personally do not want anyone, including booking agents, bothering me...if I want to talk to them, I will call them. I would book a NA hunt with Cabela's anytime. Having said that, my next trip to Africa will probably be booked through Jack Atcheson & Sons based on the locations they offer hunts in and safari companies they work with.
