been to africa twice - both times hunted the save conservancy and it was the best adventures ever in my life.

i will hunt the save conservancy again when i get back to africa ( timing might be a little delayed given the long term financial distressed the world and financial markets are in and will be for a long time - my personal biased experience)

the question is is there any other place in africa comparable to save conservancy - big five plus plains game plus professionally managed?

thanks

Niassa Reserve, Mozambique is a well managed Reserve that offers both BG and PG hunting areas.
Although not as much in the way as PG when compared to the Save, Buby Conservancy's est. However Niassa easily makes up for this small down side in the form of a more wild adventure "Safari" in comparison.

I think the Save is hard to beat when it comes to "all round performance". Fantastic plains game, wide range of DG, good lodges and facilities. When you take into account how many buff over the 40 inch mark have been taken this year, along with the leopard and elephant, it is certainly holding its head up. There are certainly better areas when it comes to specific trophies(ie Malapati for big ellie) but the Save has such a diverse range of species that it is hard to beat

Beretta,

I don't think you'll find an "All Around" better destination than the Save or similiar. I work with four operators on the Save and I'm very comfortable putting my friends and client with any of them. That "All Around" experience is its speciality but when you need to look for a special experience for some unique species you'll need to move on.

For diversity of species and a unique wild experience that will not break the bank the Zambezi Delta in Mozambique may offer an excellent opportunity. I have an ad for such a hunt on the Outfitters Offered and Discounted Hunts forum now. Check it out.

As my hunt reports below indicate, the Save is a special place.

I believe they run the Bubiana (sp?) conservancy in Zim (I heard they just took a pig of a lion a week or 2 ago)

Lemco is now called the Bubye Valley Conservancy. 1.2 million acres, 9 camps, no interior fencing, all of the Big 5, though they don't routinely hunt elephant there. On my hunt there last July, we saw 39 lions in ten days, including three bruiser males. Excellent hunting for the cats, buffalo and plainsgame, including sable.

Brent Hein has hunted Bubye Valley for many years and does an excellent job. His clients have taken two big lions there in the past month or so. Photos of the area, camps and trophies are on his website.
