For the Rhodesians out there, I will tell every person that will listen about the "great betrayal" our country did to you. You are some of the greatest bunch of men and women I have ever met in traveling the world!! My heart goes out to you and I will continue to hunt and spend my money with "your" old countrymen until I am penniless or someone is patting me in the face with a shovel. Cheers to all of you wherever in the world you may be!!!

My first boss out of college in 1983 was a young ex-Rhodesian. He was the saddest man I ever met and was very difficult to work for. He had left Africa in 1978 for the UK and then on to the US. He never talked about his former home and at the time I thought he was the biggest jerk I ever had to put up with. After nearly 25 years and ten trips to Africa (four to Zim), I now understand his grief.

[It suddenly seems so much easier to refer to Rhodesia – the land of Ian Smith and the breadbasket of Africa, than to refer to Zimbabwe – the disasterous result of Kissinger and Co’s betrayal.]

From breadbasket to serious shortage of bread and maize imports. When the white man leaves Africa, it will always return to its former state of poverty. A loaf of bread will now cost Z$30 000, up from Z$22 000, the country's Industry Ministry said in a statement read aloud on state radio. Inflation now stands at 4500%. Zimbabwe's central bank said it will issue higher denominated bank notes on Wednesday to help consumers cope with hyperinflation ravaging the country. At the official exchange rate, Z$50 000 is worth $200; at the black-market rate, however, it would only buy 36 US cents. The United Nations food agency on Wednesday appealed for $118-million in expanded food aid for Zimbabwe and pledged to assist about 3,3-million starving citizens of that country.

Interesting to see Kissenger's name coming up again, but it was the British Government in the end who sold out Ian Smith and all their British subjects with specific reference to what happend during the last 5 years of blacks grabbing white farmer's property and pushing them off. Still they could not intervene and send a force to restore law & order, but they were quick to get involved in other foreign conflicts that did not involve their own people.

All we can do now is to sit and watch for Zim to run its course - back to the trees. I understand 6 Million black Zimbabweans are already in SA to find some greener pastures, which is not without its sosio-economic problems either. Our own blacks cannot find sufficient employment as we probably have near 20 million squatter already around our main cities. The SA Goverment has never really taken a stand on the Zim issue - "Southern African leaders failed on Friday to heed calls for strong action against the embattled Zimbabwean government, saying the ailing country's problems are "exaggerated". "We feel they [Zimbabwe] will solve their economic problems," the chairperson of the Southern African Development Community told journalists." [Mail & Guardian].

It looks like Kadaffi is out and the Chinese is in.

"would somebody please explain to me why our country consistently turns it's back on the people that would be our allies and helps the people that will consistently work for the down fall of our country and culture? I really have never been able to understand that."

It's called votes. The same thing is happening now in the USA regarding the 12MM (or is it 20MM?) illegal Mexicans. How many will there be in 50 years? 100 years?

Many European countries matter-of-factly state that they will have a majority of sharia-practicing Moslems by 50 or 100 years from now.

But nothing matters except how many votes the cheap political hacks can get in 2008.

Any serious US political candidate who tried to stand up for decency, honor, integrity, and the rule of law in Rhodesia or South Africa would immediately be accused of racism by Jesse Jackson and his ilk and would lose the election.
