shakariBullshit show and tell
Turd whomping is a traditional game that has been played by PHs and gamerangers for many years. As you spin along in the truck you aim to flatten any fresh turds you spot lying in the road...... when you hit 'em right, they go WHOMP!!!!!
I was so shocked by the sheer size of this turd I had to stop and photograph it. I'd estimate this as top ten in ICS at least. The turd was completely unaware of my presence and made no attempt to take avoiding action as I lined up the truck. I managed to hit it absolutely amidships and flattened it in one run. Tyre was a new BF Goodrich and speed was around 30 mph. -I was real lucky as if I'd only clipped it, I'm sure I'd have a dangerous follow up on my hands........

Mighty big turd there. I'll be checking ele turds come June when I film a safari in Johan Colitz's camp for a fellow from Austin. I hope we find one as worthy as this one for a photo.

This is a question of mass, velocity and rpm/twist rate. Most important is mass and speed, which brings us to momentum.
A bakkie will give you a nice widely spread splash and 100% lateral penetration.
Looking at bullets, something like a v-max should give you quite a blow up, with little penetration. Solids on the otherhand will give full penetration but not too much splashing or blow up.
After years of expermenting I must conclude that the heavy bakkies gives the best results to get the shit flying. Of course you need quality tyres with good tread, else it can become a slippery shit story.

Andrew McLarenAll Americans should note that we are in the Southern Hemisphere here. The Corriolis effect didtates that you should preferably use a rifle with a left hand twist for optimum accuracy. It is also the underlying reason why your PH will always insist the scope zero check before he will allow you to go hunting with a rifle zeroed in USA.
That is also why our vehicle engines rotate counterclockwise! Have you ever wondered why we drive on the, for you, wrong side of the road? Yes! The Corriolis effect requires us to turn the steering wheel left when we want to actually turn right. Jaco, or someone with even more mathematical expertise, can surely explain all these amazing phenomena in relation to turd whomping?
In good bulshitting.

butchlocnot a very big one, here in america some of ours are so large that they get elected to office

Shakiri,
Road engineers, at least when we take photos of roads and stuff on the roads, always place some common and easily recognizable article such as a pen or pencil in the photograph to give a sense of scale. You could have placed a .375 H&H cartridge in the picture for instance because it's really hard for me to know just how big that turd really is.

Shakari, I once saw a turd that approached the size of a Nissan Micra but a Toyota Land Cruiser stretches the imagination, among other anatomical parts.

L. David KeithSteve, as I studied your trophy, I began to notice some interesting coincidences: Why was this steaming pile so large? Could it actually have been left by a single entity? Communal group dump? Flies apparently were afraid to approach it. Dung Beetles would surely find it to be their holy grail! After consulting a number of dung experts, they concluded it must have been left by the once thought extinct Elephant Rhino cross; known as the Ele-phino. I think they're correct on the "once thought to be extinct" scenario, but personally I believe it to be from the Turdasaurus. What camera did you use to capture this trophy? Enquiring minds want to know! Good hunting, LDK

Tex21I am proud to be a member of a forum that discusses topics like this.
Seriously though, what is the trophy fee for a pile of dung this sized? And would you need a PH to back you up if pursuing this query with a pushfeed? Lastly, how do you taxidermy a trophy like this for suitable display?

The trophy fee is not too high, ussually only a couple of beers or someting similar. It is very important to have a backup PH in case of an emergency. Some ph's make sure that they get maximum milage out of their tyres, the running surface is sometimes so thin that a mosquito sting will puncture them.
When booking a turd trophy hunt it is very important to do your homework properly and well in advance. Check the availability of cold beers, with emphasis on cold and the conditions of the tyres, try to get photos. The backup ph must be very reliable, somebody must get the turd thumpers back to camp.

shakariWell we can't afford to give much away for free as we don't stint on what we spend on the clients, but in this case we'll adopt the policy of free turd whomping on all our safaris as it helps the local populations of dung beetles and butterflies etc by breaking up their 'work' into smaller chunks.
We only use the very best tyres available for turd whomping and find BF Goodrich All Terrain to beat the shit out of everything else on the market......

GerardI am surprised that those who want to test penetration at various twist rates have not yet realised what a good test medium bull is. Live bull would be preferable to dead bull, of course. The changes in fluid levels caused by the BF Goodrich tracks would make dead bull unrepresentative and the results would not be valid.
13 March 2007, 21:21
loud-n-boomerI think this must have been taken in a high-fence or canned hunt. No wild turd could ever grow that large. In fact, based on the clearly blurred

background, I suspect that Steve actually took a picture of zebra dung or similar a commom turd and blew that sh_t up all out of proportion using photoshop.
