I don't know how many of you are subscribers and saw the full page tribute John posted in the ASG to his recently deceased cook and friend of over 30 years. I want to go on record that I think that was one of the classiest things I have ever seen a PH do. John went into his own pocket to memorialize a part of his team that made his life and the life and experience of his clients extra special on safari. Often we dole heaps of praise on our PH's for great hunts but forget about the guys behind the scene that are every bit as important to our comfort and well being in the bush! Hats off to you John, well done! You have my upmost respect for your actions in recognizing your long-time associate and friend... and making sure we did as well! On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. Simply put, John is just a classy guy, in the field or anywhere. LostHorizonsOutfitters.com ---------------------------- "You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas" Davy Crockett 1835 ----------------------------

Sad news indeed. Peter was our cook in '07 and we enjoyed both the food and his company. You could tell he and John had a great relationship.

He IS the real deal. I've hunted with him twice and will do so again. He's the consummate professional. I was saddened by the news of Peter's passing. He was in his 70s and a great cook and fine gentleman. My wife loved him and his cooking. RIP. jorge PS: Bwanna, I subscribe but have not yet received the latest issue. When did you get yours? John Sharp's having done what he did is the act of a true friend. May Peter rest in peace. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

My wife and I are very sad to hear of Peter’s passing. I have had the pleasure of hunting with John twice and to have the company of Peter and his fine cooking. He was a great guy and made some fantastic dishes. His table side manners and joking made our safaris even more special. He will be missed whenever I'm in John's camp next. John has lost a dear friend in Peter and us too. My sympathies are with John and Peter's family. RIP. 10-4 Honkey!

Jorge, I received my copy yesterday... the Botswana edition. John's tribute is in the back portion of the magazine where his ad is... can't miss it as it is a full page with Peter's picture on it. Thanks, hopefully mine will be in the mail today. We just spent some time with John at the DSC Convention where he briefed us on Peter. jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

Very sad news indeed. I too had the pleasure to spend time hunting with John and enjoying the camp so efficiently run by Peter. He had a bright personality and was always with a smile. His fine meals and attention to detail matched his wonderful approach to caring for his guests. It was quite easy to sense the tremendous bond between John and Peter - more like brothers than any kind of employer/staff relationship. My thoughts are with Peter's family including John Sharp is his other staff. I don't subscribe to the magazine, and unfortunately quite difficult for me to find while working in Asia. Hopefully someone here can find a way to share this tribute with everyone. Phil

I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and very kind words - I will pass these on to Peter's family and my safari staff. Peter was a very special person and has left a big void in my life - he worked for me for over 25 years. This was the least I could do to honour him.
