Saw some very nice photos of a hundred pounder shot in Tanzania about two weeks ago.the one tusk was 101 pounds the other 86 pounds. It would be interesting to know when the last hundred pounder was taken in Tanzania by a hunter. I know about six years ago a game scout shot one.

http://www.africanconservation...oot-100-pound-tusker jimmara, From the article looks like 1986 was the last 100 pounder from Tanzania by a hunter. Game Scouts Shoot 100-Pound Tusker 6 Years, 4 Months ago Tanzania: Game Scouts Shoot 100-Pound Tusker By Rolf D. Baldus It took four shots from a worn-out government issue .458 to put down Tanzania’s first 100-pound per side bull elephant in nearly two decades. The last ones were taken by tourist hunters in 1983 and 1986 in the Selous Game Reserve. The grotesque drama happened in Mbinga District, which borders Mozambique and Lake Malawi, in the south-western-most corner of Tanzania. Elephants gave way here a long time ago to cultivation, and those that stayed were poached out in the 1980s. Therefore crowds of people gathered and watched the spectacle when a huge elephant appeared one morning in Ruhehe village. Youths threw stones, and later in the day, 19-year-old Lazaro Ndunguru climbed a small tree close to the animal. According to the official report by the Mbinga Wildlife Office, when the elephant got close enough Ndunguru clubbed it on the head with a knob stick. Being so unpleasantly disturbed, the elephant bull grabbed the young fellow with its trunk, smashed him against the tree, and stepped on him. According to a medical doctor, his death was immediate. The elephant left but returned in the following days, destroying several hectares of crops. On May 8, two game scouts, H. Kahunda and T.C. Milinga, who had been dispatched by Mbinga District authorities, together with two villagers, shot the bull at 14 hours in Uzena village, which is 12 km from the District capital. The District Game Officer, P.H. Ndimbo, said that the tusks weighed 47 and 48 kg respectively, had a length of 225 cm, and a circumference of 50 cm at the base. It is assumed that the bull had moved into the area from the Niassa Game Reserve in neighbouring Mozambique, where such big tuskers are known to still occur. Looks like Lake Burunge area, on the western border with Tarangire National Park. This hunting block is leased by Sheni Lalji of Game Frontiers, leased under Northern Hunting. Before the rains, all the big jumbo come out from the park - it was always a matter of time before the 100lb'er was taken. Then again,it may be a different area altogether - but I believe I'm right.
