Man, I’m beginning to think I can’t see well enough to hunt anymore.

Damn!

Yeah, I thought that when I was in Cameroon, couldn’t see a lot of things I normally see with ease…

Then I got cataract surgery and new lenses made a world of difference! If you’re a candidate and haven’t done it, just do it!

Lions are funny!

We were putting up a lion blind at the edge of a clearing.

Making quite a racket!

Then someone said, look, there is a lion watching us!

He was about 30 yards.

Lying down and watching us just like the one in the photo above.

It was a young male.

We carried on.

Early next morning we went and sat in the blind.

And were treated to sex show that would have made Epstein and all his politician friends jealous! rotflmo

Andrew, I love that picture. And Saeed, it's so true. Lion can be incredibly arrogant. To some, humans are just so beneath them that they do not feel the need to disrupt their day due to your presence. Others, can take objection to your presence almost immediately. I've always been fascinated by their different personalities. And I don't have enough experience with the same animals to know if it is a personality trait of the animal, or their mood on a given day.

We saw a lion early one morning.

We followed him in quite thick bush.

He never went far, but because of the bush there was no chance of a shot.

Then we come around a corner, and there he is, may be 12 yards away.

Lying down, looking back at us.

Completely hidden except for his ears, and part of his forehead.

Alan put the shooting sticks up, and I got onto them.

I told him I could shoot him in the head if he gets up a bit.

Alan suggested I don't and wait for him to get up completely.

Well, at that distance, all he needs ism a couple of jumps before he is on top of up.

I kept that in mind, and made sure the safety was off.

After a bit, he decided to get up and leave.

He turned to his left as he stood up, and I let him have it just behind the shoulders.

He jumps and disappeared behind a bush, and started growling.

A few minutes later it was quite.

He ran about 7 yards and was lying behind the bush dead.

Just got back from Zim, took my wife and 2 of my daughters. Thought the best bet would be to start sitting at a waterhole. Was fairly slow, the usual cast of characters, but a good show for the girls. Finally decided to get up and move on. Stood up and walked out of the brush and nearly stepped on a kudu calf, bolted to our left with a lioness right on its ass. My daughter’s eyes were the size of tea saucers. I said “that’s what I’ve been telling you!”

Andrew,

My wife likes to tag along and sometimes I ask her to stay in the gari, depending on the circumstances. I showed her your picture and she didn't see the lioness for quite a while, but it helped her understand and she said she'd stay in the car when I asked her to.
