Girl (7) battles for life after leopard attack Chinhoyi Bureau A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl from Chirundu is battling for her life at Karoi District Hospital after being severely mauled by a leopard which pounced on her from a tree. Caroline Mufanebadza, of Riverside residential camp in Chirundu, was walking home with her father Mr Michael Mufanebadza when the attack occurred. She was about three metres behind her father when the leopard, which was perched in a tree, pounced. She screamed for help and fought back bravely to fend off the animal while her father dashed to her rescue, resulting in the leopard retreating into the bush. Caroline sustained serious injuries and was taken to Chirundu Clinic before she was transferred to Karoi District Hospital where her condition is reported to be serious. Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Paul Nyathi said the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority had been informed and was carrying out investigations. "We would like to urge people living in areas teeming with wild animals to be cautious as many people are being attacked and losing their lives in the process," he said. A Chirundu man was recently attacked by an elephant while drinking beer at a motel in the border town. In another elephant attack, a Kariba woman was trampled to death while returning home from a clinic where she had gone for treatment. Actually normally it is polite to give credit to the source of an article, by naming it. *** My guess is that is a "Herald" article. | |||
