Does anyone know which blocks in Tanzania have been returned? Monday the 15th is the deadline to return but I suspect everyone returning blocks would have done so by now.

Lane,

I've not seen or heard anything but as stated above the companies in the North Selous have lost their blocks because of the newly established national park which affected a huge portion of the Selous.

In return, the government has offered some of these companies blocks in other parts of the country which were either turned in or vacated.

Its a merry go round there as usual.

There were some good operators who had put much time, effort and dollars into their areas only to lose them to the NP.

Announcement from the Tanzania Government "We would like to inform all concerned that our long serving, hard working, 10 year old head of the department has retired. He has done a great job of promotion during his time. He is replaced by a well educated and knowledgeable 3 year head"

There you have it my friend, never loose faith in how well they will run things! rotflmo

I have a hunt scheduled with Mike Angelides (McCallum Safaris) in Sept/Oct of this year in Lukwati North. Presently, Mike is building camps and plans to be operational this year. Barring the unforeseen (unlikely that the unforeseen would happen, especially this year!), I plan to be there.

John,
Good luck and hopefully hassle free and safe travel. What airline are you with?

Thanks Lane. For some reason, with all the extracurricular crap that's gone on this year, I'm particularly anxious to go.
