Saeed or anyone who has watched Saeed’s new safari film, on about the 7th or 8th film the PH was demonstrating a re-loading gadget for re-loading his double rifle (in this case a 470NE) very quickly. It holds two rounds, and has two rings for your fingers, to put the first half of both cartridges into the chambers, then lift the fixture releasing the cartridges .

It is a neat gadget! Does anyone know where I could obtain a pair of these things? I would love to try one of these things!

Saeed the PH who carried the Krieghoff double rifle and guided Walter on the last safari film I never got his name! He had a couple of two round gadgets used for a fast simultaneous reloading of his double rifle. Is there any way you can E-mail him or Roy to find out how and where I can buy a couple of those handy little gadgets? I have a feeling they are Krieghoff accessories, but if I could at least get the proper brand name for them I might find them on the internet!

Thanks, and by the way that was an awesome film, in both quality and content!

.....................................................................Thanks!

Mac, haven't made it that far in Saeed's DVD's but there was a fairly common tool used in the 19th century for extracting shotgun shells which incorporated a ring for your finger and fit over the heads of the shotgun shells after they were partially extracted to facilitate complete extraction. I was large into collecting antique loading tools and had quite a few of these in my collection. Usually marked BGI for Bridgeport Gun and Implement Tool company. They manufactured many of the tools marketed by gun manufacturers of the period including Sharps and others.

Mac, it's like a speed loader for a revolver, a slow solution to an antiquated problem.

Much better to just have a few 17-round magazines! Big Grin

Thanks Saeed! The pictures may help me find them! I'd like to find a pair of them to use one for softs, and other for solids. I have a little leather holder called "DOUBLE DUTY" from Trader Keith that fits on my ammo belt that holds two rounds that when opened it drops two rounds into my left hand, when hunting with softs, I carry two solids in the fixture to shoot smaller animals without tearing them apart.
............................................................. tu2 Thanks again Saeed!

I have to agree on the revolver! That is why I carry simi-autos for self defense. However I've never seen more than one double rifle that fed from a magazine, and it was a bolt action Push feed abortion! Wink

I would love to find a couple of these gadgets for a couple of doubles in different calibers. The main reason I'd like to have a pair is I could load one with solids, and the other with softs for a quick change of ammo type. If you will notice Dillon's are different colors just for that reason!

Thanks Dutch, I too like to find all the old tools that were usually in the fitted cases for vintage double rifles. However the gadget, in this case, is for LOADING the double with two cartridges simultaneously. The cartridge puller you mention, if I understand you correctly, is still made, and is available from Galazan. I have one that I have used on occasion to pull the forward end of the brass from the chamber from a case separation left in the chamber.

Like you, when I can, I like the vintage tools with their beautiful patina, just like the old rifles they were made for!

Quite likely the local tailor in his rickety shack using a pedal operated Singer Sewing machine.

The material appears to be of a light canvas and the loops are stitched to a similar backing.

Don't reckon it would have cost more than $5 and does the same job as the fancy ones. Wink

I have a leather shotshell belt from back in the eighties that I paid $20 for.It worked really well and I am more than happy with it.IMO,if you are going to pay $150 or $200 for a belt, you should get what you paid and not a belt worth $40.I just visited with the fellow who made my Lott belt and we discussed a belt made for my 500NE.He should have it ready in a week or so.

Mac, what your really need is one of these- 4 barrels!
You can keep your softs in one set of barrels and your solids in the other set and not have to bother with reloading
Might want to get someone to pack it around for you though.....and you will probably have to sell all of your guns, house, stocks, grandchildren etc to buy it as this rifle was once the property of the Maharajah of Rewa, India, circa around the 1850's. I would guess it is worth a bit of money
Maybe Sabatti can make one for you

'
This four barrel gun has the oval Lancaster rifling which gives the appearance of an unrifled bore. , who gave it to Mr. Scott. Mr. Scott is reported to have killed at least one tiger with this rifle. The rear "trigger" is actually a cocking lever. A pull on the cocking lever readies the upper right barrel. After that barrel is fired, successive pulls on the cocking lever and trigger fire the remaining barrels in turn.

big will,

There is no information regarding this contraption in our hunting video.

This was used by one of our PHs, that is all.

I got your PM and address, and will be happy to send you a copy of our safari, I just wanted to let you know that there is no further information regarding this.

Talk about a complex job for the regulator!

I would love to own that thing, but I doubt I'd ever take it to Africa. I collect any firearm that has more than one barrel, and that one certainly qualifies!
