The SHE website redirects you to the Bass Pro website, where most everything is camo. i will check the other sites.basically everything at Cabelas is either camo or very light weight nylon, more designed for fishing.can't find a TAG website..

My wife was disappointed with the fit and quality of both SHE Safaris and TAG.

Mrs Balcktailer has bought most of her stuff at Cabelas. She was disappointed with the quality of most of the women's safari clothing such as SHE. She resolves herself to looking like "one of the guys" while hunting and admits it aint no fashion show.

Lots of excellent used clothes few just few bucks
Africa is not fashion destination and it is not something we wear all the time, besides Joneses are not there so you don't have to keep up with them
Honestly, I outfitted myself for Africa on maybe $30 bucks and that's no shit

TAG is down the street from me literally, so that is where I plan on going to outfit my wife for next year. She can literally try everything on.

It's also where I've purchased my hunting clothes for the past 6-7 years. No complaints, except that 5 year old pair of pants that totally ripped and fell apart on the escarpment when I was shuffling around trying to get a shot on a bushbuck.

But I don't think I can blame them for that. It did leave me in a rather embarrassing position however. Far end of the concession and no pants. Thank God for duct tape.

You probably won't do as we did, but when we took our first trip to Africa we decided to purchase our outfits from local thrift stores. What we looked for was khaki long sleeved shirts and trousers in particular. Most of the stuff was in excellent condition and cost us a small amount compared to buying brand new stuff. We have worn the same stuff on four trips to Africa and one to New Zealand and it is still in pretty good shape. The two stores in Chambersburg, PA at which we shopped were Goodwill Industries and the Salvation Army.
Oh, and yes, we could have afforded to buy brand new stuff, but why? I guess I should have read the entire thread before posting. I see boarkiller did the same thing. Cool

Most of my money I spent on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted

My wife's reviews of SHE clothing were mixed.
Carhartt clothing worked well for my wife and myself. Still have it 7 years later.

Speaking of that
Nixon told me story about client shooting himself in his toe, so they hauled him to SA hospital
Then they emailed on his emergency contact saying he'll be OK and his wife was at his side, except his wife in states somehow got hold of the message.
Oops...
Thought , it was rather funny

My wife wouldn't be caught dead in Africa on safari. I know. I've invited her ten times. Sure solves the clothes problem. Me, I buy my stuff from Cabelas. Love their safari shirts and wear them on Fridays here. Like a mini safari every week.

Brice, sorry to hear that.

Boarkiller, while someone certainly anticipated otherwise, that is the beginning to a very sad story.

Orvis has good quality stuff.

Occasionally, I have been able to find new old stock of Willis & Geiger safari stuff on eBay. Tell her Grace Kelly wore it. Smiler

How about some earth tone shorts of any manufacture (Carhartt is great), some well broken in and tennis shoes (not white), some polo shirts, and, at most, a good bush jacket from Cabelas ($60 or so). I honestly never quite understood the desire that a lot of people have to look like they just walked off the set of Out of Africa when going on a hunt. OK...maybe I understand that...but I don't understand people willing to spend hundreds of dollars to "look the part".

My latest view on safari fashion is this. While it may be "in" to have that common worn out look like the faded green cotton pants, shirt and the Tiley hat etc... It is also good to be a leader, look a little like a weirdo and make your own fashion.

I think we got most of our stuff at Academy. Good, comfortable clothes and shoes that are earth toned are really all she needs for the bush. I've also bought things over there when I needed to.
