Hello... My .458wm cartidges from Norma makes 2205f/s with the 500 grains Swift,and with the 500 grains Barnes Solid it make 2205f/s,,is that all power i need to hunt cape buffalo and elephant?? | ||

That is more than enough, have you chronographed that load? it seems awfully warm for factory ammo and the factories make some awsome claims... | |||

Hi... Yes,the loads are chronographed by me,,and a Swedish hunting magazine testing that ammo to and they get the same velocity.My English is not so good,hope that you cane read what i right.The Winchester 500 grains soft point,whas only make 2005f/s,,this load i use for moose hunting,it that load to slow for the African cape buff and elephanthunt?? What is the minimum velocity in the .458wm for the Big Game off Africa? | |||

What barrel length are you using? It sure would be nice to learn what powder they are using and what the pressure level maight be. Some of their older 7x61's were rather "warm" I thought. Just an observation. Leroy | |||

My Norma 7x64 150gr loads seem to be really hot. The primers are absolutely flattened! No chrono on them yet. | |||

My barrel is "22inch,,and it with that barrel i get this velocites,,and in a Swedish hunter magazin (From 2004) the test shooter also using a "22 inch barrel,and he gets this speed to.He also shooting with 30 years old ammo - Remington 510 grains softpoint bullets,and he gets 2125f/s. I whas checking Normas homepage ((www.norma.cc))and ther are loding manuals for many cartidges,also big bores,,but not the.458wm. | |||
