One of the many reasons I'm going to the Dallas Safari Club Convention is to see what is avaialable in the way of a leopard/sable hunt for 2011. I'm interested in an affordable, high percentage success hunt with low observer fees for my wife and an adult son. This year my youngest son accompanied me on an elephant safari and I'd like to take my oldest son on my leopard/sable hunt with my son shooting the bait animals. Please let me know what you have on offer and if you'll be at DSC. My e-mail address is in my profile. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Scott, What are you looking for as far as a sable goes? Lots of places can provide high 30's but if you need over 40" that limits your choices. Mark MARK H. Mark, I'd like the best sable I can get, but I'm not hung up on the inches. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

For this species Niassa province in Mozambique would be a good choice and is a wild area! 40"+ should not be a problem however there are roosevelt sable! Cheers

You should contact John Sharp Safari. He is your man for sable/leopard. He will be in Dallas as well.

Thanks for the leads so far. I have no strong preference regarding common vs. Rossevelt Sable, but as Teddy is my hero, the Roosevelt is very attractive. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

If you look at the auction catalog, there are sable hunts available with a number of outfitters, I believe. Maybe you can pick up a bargain. For the Friday night auction, there's a nice one with Pro Hunt Zambia with a leopard upgrade possible, but it's for 2010 only, I think.

Good luck on the "affordable observers". IMHO the observer day rate is the most over fluffed, over priced item on any safari, period. Especially when you are sharing the same bed, meals, staff, and car with her (hopefully its a "her"). And, +1 for looking at the Save. But I'd go early in May or June for best success on Mr. Spots.
