A friend of mine went to his Mozambique operation on a buffalo hunt and did not see a buffalo. They did encounter a handful of poachers. I was with this buddy in Zimbabwe on a plains game hunt right before his hunt with Roche and he couldn't take his own rifle into Mozambique because whatever paperwork to allow it was not done on the safari company's end of it.

Roche offered to bring him back for another hunt. I don't know if he plans on taking him up on it.

There is something wrong here.

On more than one level!

You are correct! If that is true, and I have no reason to doubt what you say, how could one go on a Buffalo hunt and not see ONE Buffalo? Maybe it happens at times bu5 it seems odd. And, why would paperwork no5 be comp? It’s either from incompetence or laziness.

He should take it on the condition he gets a full refund if he does not take a good Buffalo. I would slap the airfares on top of all that!

I would not.

Why waste time on some who had failed you??

Far too many good outfitters to choose from, where one can import his rifle and hunt.

Not miss his rifle and end up with no buffalo.

If you are going to Mozambique please hunt with a Mozambique Operator and not someone masquerading as a Moz Company.

Plenty to choose from.

Safari 2

There are many different companies that operated in more than one country in Africa, plus a few that operated in more that two countries. All one has to do is look at a PH web site and you will see a drop down button to pick which country you would like to hunt in, they list animals that are available for the hunter to have a chance at.

Reading the hunting reports, most hunters appear to be having a good to great experience using a company and their PH's.

There are free lance PH who have clients and book a country to hunt the specific animal that the hunter is looking for.

I know a few PH's who provide hunting out of Mozambique, however they also hunt in other countries, like Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. They have permanent camps set up in Mozambique that thought out and they have taken the time to construct. A few of them post on here from time to time.

A good friend hunted with him when he was an Apprentice PH (I think that’s the right term) and had nothing bad to say about him. I hunted with that OH the year after he left and even the trackers lined the guy. I’ve met him in person many times at various shows and he has always seemed on the up and up.
