dgr416,

I would buy the 375 ...As you have 4 of the 416s...The 375 can be a light backup rifle and ammo is readily available in Africa...

I want a Ruger 416 Rem Mag which is not made.I would have it rechambered and rebored I guess.I hope that the 416 Rem Mag does not fade away because of the Winchester going away. You hardly see any Remington 416 in the 700.

dgr416,

Are you talking about an older tang safety M77 375H&H or a newer RSM?

Some of the older tang safety models are the finest in quality control that Ruger put out, especially the old tang safety 458WM.

The latest generation of RSMs are very good for the money, though I wouldn't consider reboring a new one until the barrel is shot out. I did weigh my recent M70416 @ 9lbs box stock. My RSM 375 easily weighs over a pound more. It is no way near a lightweight 375.

Most factory/custom 416Rem ammo runs about $65-$80 plus a box. You can easily reload with all new components in the $25-$35 range. It's even cheaper once you reuse the brass. In my book the 416Rem is for reloading so it's not much different than owning a 416Taylor. I wouldn't worry, components will be around longer than us.

I think dealer cost on the M70416 was just over $800 before the talk of ending production. Lord knows how high prices may go from dealers as the supply dwindles. One thing is for sure, expect the remaining M70 Safari Express rifles to sell out faster than normal.

I was talking about the RSM .I did find a old model 458 that was converted to 416 Taylor.I have around 8000 pcs of 416 Rem Mag brass.I just thought of this a matched pair of the new Ruger RSM rifles .One of the 338 Lapula rechambered to 338-378 Weatherby and the other a 416 Rigby recambered to 416 Weatherby. The Weatherby is loaded 300 fps faster than the Remington or the Rigby.I have a bunch of 416 Weathbery brass that I have necked to 338-378 Weatherby yet.I just wonder if the Weatherby belts would work and feed through the magazine.I still think that the 416 Rem mag RSM is a good idead also.I handled a 375 H&H and was very impressed withit. It seems like twice the gun the Winchester model 70 Express rifle was.I have loaded a ton of the Speer 350 mag tip bullets that are very accurate.I also have a bunch of Hornady 400 ge interlocks and a bunch of 410 gr woodleigh bullets.
