I have a couple Baboons on quota when I go to Zim this summer. I think the skulls are really impressive. Those canine teeth are just horrendous.

That being said, I have NEVER seen a shoulder mount of a Baboon? I would think an open mouth, snarling Baboon would be a pretty scary looking mount.

Anyone have one of these, or seen one? If so, can you post a picture or a link?

Thanks

N'gagi,

I have seen baboon mounts but don't have any myself. A big dog baboon is an impressive animal and they do make great mounts.

Don't forget that you will need a CITES permit to bring them back into the US.

Good Hunting,

Mark

dont forget a big tip to get someone to carry and skin it! I killed a pair on my trip the 458 almost cut the first in half. when the trackers grabbed its tail it fell off of a rock they thought it was alive screamed then stoned it until it was dead again
My second one I shot off a ledge and i couldnt get anyone to offer to climb up after him.
One of my taxidermy catalogs has a chest pedastle mount it is a great looking mount!! If I had a scanner Id scan it for you. When I get home ill see what catalog its in maybe they have a picture on their websight.

I agree. They are quite cool...

I know you didn't ask for a picture of a skull, but I couldn't resist. It is also another opportunity to say thanks to Richard Powell, who gave me this skull (which he got in Namibia in 2002).

Cheers,
Canuck

Here is the mount my father had done with his baboon.

He had the hands sticking out so we could put some sugar cane in them.

The baboon was eating some when he shot him. It had about seven pieces of sugar cane stuffed in the back of its mouth when we got to him.

That's what I was thinking of! What is the general reaction from people who see that?

The others were cool too! Thanks for sharing. Anybody else have a neat Baboon mount?

I have always wanted to get three one male and two female. Full body mounts each holding a sign. The male "Hi I'M Bill, one female holding a sign saying HI, I'm Hillery and the third in a Blue Dress with sign saying Hi guess who I am?.

That mount is the least favorite of most women. My friend has one just walking that looks cool. My favorite is a Doctor in town that has three Full mounts sitting on his Firplace Mantle as the "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" That makes a great looking mount.

That mount and a dim flashlight outside a bedroom window could sure liven up my son's sleep-overs!

Pretty clever, Jeff! I like the "screeching one" real well.

Canuck

Thanks for posting the skull, gave me the idea to bring one back from Zim in June. Should look great next to (hopefully) my leopard skull.
