Daughter & Dad video... fixing it

I sent out 70 or so videos of Emmy and my safari to Matetsi to AR friends. Unfortunately, in one batch, the paper labels were too thick which caused the disk to hang up or something. Dadgummit!

Through trial and error, and p.m. from South Africa (thanks Chris Troskie), we've discovered that peeling the label off will fix the problem... or, if a recipient has already discarded his/her copy, I'll send another if you p.m. me.

BTW, I'll have some copies in Dallas, albeit with torn off covers. Alas! But they work even if they aren't pretty.

I'll leave a copy or 10 at the HHK booth. Just ask for one (if you don't mind a bit of label residue thereupon? I'll have them to Graham by noon on Friday.

I think I'm going to sue Staples!

Anyway, get one and enjoy.

Gentlemen,

This problem has been around for many years.
Sticking a paper label on a DVD apparently creates instability, as the disk rotates very fast.

For those who wish to make their own videos, printable surface DVDs are available, and the prices are very reasonable.

Bare in mind though, that there are two types of printable DVDs available.

One type is specifically made for use with ink jet printers, and one type is made to be used to wax type printers.

These are not inter changeable.

It seems that practically all inkjet printers available today have the facility to print labels directly on DVDs.

I'll have a few at Dallas, albeit with my own "Sharpie" artwork or some residual paper debris from my scratching off the bad label... or a-you-peel yourself model.

Just ask.
