Got your PM. Sound advice there Todd. Thank you. Today has been manic and I'm not finished yet. Thinking everything through, checking, weighing, packing. Still cannot believe that in a few short days I'll be in one of the wildest places on earth. Really so excited it's untrue

Wishing you the hunt of a lifetime and very much looking forward to the hunting report. Funny aside: My wife walks up while I am looking at the photo of your guns in the case and says to me, "Oh honey, are those the new guns you just bought? They're really pretty, lets go shoot them." I love that woman..she has a good eye for a fine rifle. I've got some more years of very hard work before I am going to earn the right to enjoy safari rifles as fine as yours! Have a wonderful trip! I hope your hunt is going as well as I know it would with Alan. I am in Sweden, and the day before yesterday we had a terrible rain storm all day, so I wasn't able to do my usual walk in the forest. Had to sit down at home and think about our hunt next month with Alan. And read a book about people getting stuck on Mount Everest. Yesterday was a fine day thank goodness, and I managed to do 30 ks. What a contrast between walking in the forest in Africa and walking in the forest here. In Africa they have small red berry like fruits that grow on some bushes. Apparently they are not fit to eat. They also have them, or very similar, berries here which are not fit to eat. But, here they also have an abundance of wild strawberries, blueberries, cloudberries, raspberries and all sorts of other berries one can just pick and eat. My daughter said I should take some of the berry plants to Tanzania and plant them there. So we can get some berries! I wonder how long those plants would last in the Selous?

Arrived back home yesterday. Had a wonderful time but no Elephant. Hunt report soon! Saeed, those forest fruits would last seconds in the Selous. Every living beast and insect is trying to consume whatever it can. We had a very close encounter with an army of Fire ants whilst hunting Hippo in the forest. The bites may heal in a few more weeks!

I remember Walter, being himself again, once in the Selous. He wanted to shoot a buffalo, and as luck would have it, we found a number of old bulls together - I cannot remember the actual number, may 4 or 5. They were standing right in the open, all in line broadside. He could have shot any of them. He asked. "which one should I shoot?" We all said "anyone, quickly!". Walter fired, and we could see the bullet far off any of the bulls! They all took off, and Roy lead the charge of ripping Walter about his missed shot. We went to investigate, and found that Walter, being himself again!. Managed to hit a single twig about an inch thick, which deflected his bullet. As we stood there laughing, Walter suddenly started screaming, jumping up and down, and taking his trousers off all at the same time! Apparently he stood on an ant colony, and they all took a ride up his trouser legs! Serves him right!

I have no doubt Mark had a great time. What I hope to know is that his wife did. My wife absolutely loved every safari we have been on together.
