I am down to 55 days before I make my first trip. This has been 16 months in the making. I will be hunting plains game from Eland to wart hog should be a good time as I am going with my dad, his best friend and his wife. Dad is getting up in age so this may be the last big hunt we get to do.

Enjoy the countdown! For all I know you are a PC and Excel whizzkid, but, if not and for those who enjoy counting down days here is a bit of advice;

In Excel enter into A1 the following: =DATE(2009,mm,dd) as the date of your departure. Into A2 enter: =TODAY()
In A3 you put sometheing like: Days to go until I depart on a dream trip = Then in b3 you enter: =A1-A2 The actual countdown as number of days to go is now displayed in B3. Play with the font and cell size so that it displays nicely as you want.

I just enjoy countdowns and do this even for counting down when my first client of the season arrives. You can add in A4: Hours to go = and then in B4 you enter: =b3*24 Naturally the weeks to go will be given by =B3/7 and so on! Have fun!

In good hunting.

Lack of knowledge – by instruction. Lack of skills – by practice. Lack of experience – by time doing it.

One cannot cure:

Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules!

My very long ago ancestors needed and loved to eat meat. Today I still hunt!

Johan and Harold,

Thanks for the link. Nice site!

Once you have the Excel spreadsheet fixed nice I also use it as a "Hunt Preparation & Planning tool" For each client, like Code4 who arrives on 2nd June, I ceate a separate countdown. I'm then for example warned at 30 days to "Buy Free State Hunting License" The at 7 days the warning changes to: "Andrew McLaren get your ass in gear and go and buy a license for Code4 ASAP!" I like countdowns, but mine is a toy for joy!

In good hunting.

No counting here either at 62 days. First time over - PG hunt in Namibia. Just now starting to feel like we're getting close and preps I've been waiting for are needing to get done. All prety well in order considering I've been preparing half heartedly for 5+ years and earnestly for 15 months. Resources on this site have been both an inspiration and an invaluale resource. Thanks to all who have no idea what they've contributed.

108 for my first trip!!

I am supposed to be turkey hunting and fishing like a mad man.
I can only halfway concentrate on it though. I am too preoccupied with planning and reading everthing i can about african safaris.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Fifty-eight long days until Zim for me. Certainly have many trips to the range and the wife, children and grandchildren think I have actually been gone for the past year! Cool

I will be off to Botswana in 51 days to hunt with Tholo Safaris thanks to Wendell Reich. GeoffM24 who are you hunting with? I will be hunting for eland, wildebeest, impala, warthog, blesbok and possibly a zebra. I am all but packed already. Sad, isn't it? Lucky for us planning is half the fun! Good hunting to all.

I'm going to be there the week prior to you. It seemed like I booked the hunt so long ago and I can't believe it is now right around the corner.

You aren't going after Kudu?

I got a kudu in Namibia in 2005. At first I thought I would go for another and may still if I see a monster. Best of luck. I will ask about you on May 23rd.
