Subject: Litigation Alert to SCI Members From: Safari Club International Date: Wed, November 6, 2013 3:31 pm An animal rights group, Friends of Animals, has filed a new lawsuit challenging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's program that grants permits to U.S. ranches for the culling of members of their scimitar-horned oryx, dama gazelle and addax herds. This lawsuit is a direct attack on the use of hunting for the sustainable use conservation of the U.S. herds of the three antelope species. The lawsuit seeks to stop the FWS from issuing those permits. SCI is considering getting involved in the lawsuit to defend the issuance of these permits and would need help from SCI members who would be adversely affected if the permit program was ended. If you: 1) are a ranch owner with herds of one or more of the three antelope species and plan to apply for a culling permit; 2) have a culling permit that will soon require renewal (culling permits must be renewed each year); or 3) are a hunter with definite plans to hunt one or more of the three antelope species on a ranch in the U.S. in the near future, ... ... Please contact Anna Seidman, SCI Director of Litigation, at aseidman@safariclub.org. Sincerely, Anna Seidman Director of Litigation Safari Club International – D.C. 501 2nd St, NE Washington, DC 20002 Office: 202-543-8733 | ||
