He looks damn good to me. I am mailing him a couple of slabs of bacon to fill up some of his lean areas. Wink

On a more serious not Judge, I would like to commend you on your behavior during your recent trip and making things right financially with your PH. I suspect after spending a week with your "hunting companion" it am sure it was done for the PH's benefit. I have had my run ins with "he who must not be named" (with acknowledgements to J.K. Rowling) and held my tongue when people praised him on this forum. I certainly agreed when it was in regard to his service. You have shown your colors as a stand up guy and he has shown his. My hat is off to you.

I hope the whole boondoggle works out to be a positive experience in learning for all involved... leasons learned and adopted for life, that is. We aren't dogs and don't need to be taught repetitively if we'll just, first, learn vicariously by reading and asking questions in advance...,two, follow the Golden Rule (which, to my mind isn't a suggestion but a Royal Command), and three... which is my downfall... be more empathetic of those less experienced than you.

Ray taught me something with his comment that a gift is just that. Not conditional on how the receiver uses it.

I'm still on my diet and have already tightened up my belt a notch.

And, Chic... since I'm such a great guy, how about a 80% discount on a stock sometimes?

Judge,

If I may humbly add my $.02 as I myself have been on a diet of sorts lately...

I have never been a large guy and when I hit 200 four months ago, I decided enough was enough. For my build I *should* be somewhere around 170, or at least that's where I'd prefer to be. Around the same time I decided to get in shape, I was seeing a woman who had lost something like 40lbs on the Atkins diet. I had watched her eating habits for a few months and decided to give some of it a try. Also helpful was another friend of mine who's ex-Army. He likes to exercise when his ankles will cooperate.

I began by looking around at what I was consuming weekly and look for ways I could eliminate carbs and sugars. Years ago at Philmont, our ranger told me to look for a hundred ways to loose an ounce versus looking for one way to loose a hundred ounces - I used this logic to alter my dietary habits. I immediately cut out all the bread, added sugars, and "hamburger helper" type foods I've live on during my college years. I've also all but stopped drinking, eating junk foods and eating out. (I just graduated college - I was living on the college diet.)

I now use Splenda in my morning coffee and eat a breakfast. In place of sandwiches, I have wraps and salads for lunch. I then have a light supper and perhaps a piece of fruit for dessert. I don't drink sodas and have switched from 2% to Skim. I further eat everything in moderation - and that's been the key. However, what was really helpful was jogging two miles a day 3-5 times a week with my friend. Doing this, I lost 20 in just a few weeks. I'm not quite to my target yet as my exercise regimen has slacked off, but I haven't gained anything back either.

In the end, I just used some common sense and cut out stuff I figured wasn't as good for me as I should consume anyhow and exercised and I lost some weight. I feel great now and I'm in better shape than I have been for a long time. Just use your noggin and you'll get as fit as you want to be. Set yourself a goal and plan some reward for afterward. And stay with it!

Again, just my two cents.

Tex

Judge, I said you were a great guy, I did not say that I was, lol. But wait, on second thought, I do think I have a small blank in my shop that would make a 20% stock. Smiler

Judge,
best of luck or better said willpower for a worthy endavor.
As I am probably a academician in disguise, I shall add my 2 c.For what its worth - I had to battle life throughout my life - as many others and maybe yourself. To succeed in anything it comes down to doing what one does not want to do - contrary to what liberals and do-gooders want us to believe. In other words discipline over desire. Now why would a sane person do something contrary to desire? Postponement of gratification I say.YOur brain knows that at the end a goal awaits that otherwise is unattainable.
I happen to be medically trained but even worse have a thorough training in science- chemistry if that matters.
In there you learn translated into common: Nothing comes from nothing and you cant destroy mass or energy.
I bring this up to contradict all past and future diet fads. Its not the type of diet, its the total caloric intake that counts, measured against calories burned - activity.Very simple.
The animal that eats and wastes calories thru the rear pipe has yet to be born.
Against this treatise:to diet or better said reduce intake= you absolutely have to change lifestyle - permanently. You always have to balance intake against expenditures(output)

chapter 2: its not easy to loose from exercising
on top our joints etc complain - always.

How? I found that we eat not out of need but habit, boredom, social etc.
So one has to analyse why and where do you eat.
Whenever you feel hungry- seek another activity, steer your brain away from boredom ,habit - to something that needs attention.
That could be exercise or anything really that demands your attention, keeps your brain busy.
Pretty soon you will have your brain re-educated.
What I am saying: inactivity.mental as well as physical leads to boredom leads to eating.

As a stop gap measure: throw everything out of your frig and cubbards that would tempt you,
Learn to eat to survive not cherish.

OK enough gospil, maybe its a personal thing, maybe its too hard on some. Its certainly not the only way.But I gurantee it works.

And when things get tough - always remember:
nothing for nothing - postponed gratification
Do you want to hunt or puff.Maybe you will advance to become a sheephunter Smiler

Cheers and best wishes
