Hi folks,

I'm getting close to booking a hunt with John DuPlooy's outfit in Tondwa, Zambia. I've called the references and searched the forums. Now I'm asking the forum members if they have all additional input on the area or the outfit. Replies here or via PM would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dean

Dean,
Hunted with the Duplooy's this past August in Chnajuzi but got the scoop on Tondwa, see my hunt report titled Muchinga Adventures Buffalo Hunt in the Luangwa Valley on African Hunt reports. SBT, 30-06 and john E who all post here have hunted with Muchinga as well. PM me for phone numbers if you would like to talk after reading my report. Good hunting!

I have not hunted Tondwa, but I hve hunted the Luangwa with Muchinga Adventures. Without reservation, I would highly recommend Muchinga Adventures, especially PH Alistar Norton.

maki,

I don't know the outfit (does he have a website) but I did hunt the area many years ago. Do they still offer Roan? There were hundreds there at that time. We didn't hunt the swamp but glassing from a distance I did see on sitatunga. The area was known as Tondwa/Kaputa then.

Rich,

Roan, sable, sitatunga are all very good there with puku, Lichenstein's hartebeest, reedbuck, Crawshay's waterbuck, blue duiker and others available. Buffalo as I think you witnessed are there but difficult.

When you have a minute at Reno drop by John DuPlooy's booth Muchinga Adventures. There was a nice article in the SCI mag about a hunt in Tondwa with John earlier this year.

I have not personally hunted with Muchinga Adventures but first made Johnny's acquaintance many years ago when as a recently qualified PH he hunted along side his older brother Abie DuPlooy.

He was a rising star back then (16 years ago) and since that time has gone on himself to earn a great reputation for working hard to please the client, running a top class camp and delivering great trophies all with sheer dogged prefessionalism.

I don't think you will be dissapointed if you do book with him.

Thanks for the replies folks. No money has changed hands yet, but that will change soon enough. For those who are interested, the website is www.muchingaadventures.com. Fairly rudimentary site, but I get the idea they don't need to spend much on advertising.
