fulvioTZ - PH hit by Hippo
One of TZ's oldest PHs and living legends was yesterday injured from a charging Hippo and flown back from the Selous to Dar today for treatment.
Full details are not yet available other than he got caught between the Hippo and the water; once hitting the ground the animal turned and attempted chomping him but failed after the client put a shot (or more) into and convincing it to depart.
The PH was hauled out of the mud by his trackers and once regained his composure (and his rifle), promptly sought out his assailant and dispatched it.
I will surely be seeing him in the next day or so and will get a first-hand recount of the "adventure".

Michael RobinsonThat is a hard thing to survive. Almost unthinkable.
Glad the client hunter did what he did.
Clearly, death was cheated, and happily so!

He has confirmed some impressive bruises of varying color, bruised ribs and a swollen hip causing restricted and painful mobility.
Luckily no broken bones noted from X-Rays and scans but the hip joint must have taken a whack during the shunt.
He also suffered a light graze on one leg during the "chomping" session.
He is at home but not receiving visitors yet, not even close friends - hopefully I'll get to seeing him by the end of this week.
