There was an announcement made today by Jim that his wife Louise is in an advanced stage of lung cancer.

A very sad development indeed.

I saw that. Very sad indeed. May God be with and render comfort for Louise and the family.

I wish them both the best.

Having close relatives down with cancer is not an easy task.

Sadly, most of us have to go through it, like I did we both my parents.

During Covid, I watched his entire series. I had an unfavorable opinion of him prior to that.

It changed my mind. He seems like s pretty good dude. Except for the part about cooking eggs in Moose camp. Roll Eyes

That is so sad. He is one of the good guys and I hope that she pulls through. And that they can have many more years together.

She has always seemed very sweet. I’ve never liked “celebrity” hunters, but he has always seemed cordial at DSC. Boddington as well. Saeed will be mad, but Sullivan has always been upstanding, especially during the shooting of Stu Taylor.

I lost my wife to lung / liver cancer in October 2020.. It is a terrible disease. The six months from diagnosis to her passing was horrendous.

I pray they caught it soon enough to fight it...

Unfortunately, it is inoperable and incurable at a very advanced stage according to Shockey. She'll be having chemo and radiation in order to have a bit more time with her family per his announcement.

Damn I hate to hear that... I lived the same situation myself - it gave her 4 more months with us...

I would not wish this on any person.

Had a 35 year co worker and an older close friend diagnosed w advance cancers right bf Thanksgiving.

One may have killed his last deer with his daughter.

The other 35 (I am just 33) is having a major organ removed right bf Christmas. That removal will work or it will be the end.

God is good enough to live with. His grace is sufficient to die with. His love can sustain those left feeling broken.

Hunted with you Andrew some time ago and it was because of Jim and his shows with “your friend, Richard”. This is a sad day like many in our small hunting community when such a person is affected and touches so many that have passed before us.

Best wishes of family gatherings and the making of strong memories to last a lifetime

My prayers are with Louise and Jim and I hope they caught it in time. It's going to be a rough road for them under any circumstances and I have no words.

Spookstar, Not sure why you don't like Jim, but I'm sure you have your reasons. The only time I've been frustrated with him is during the shows, it's hard to do any business because his fans keep interrupting and he never turns anyone away, especially the kids. I've been sitting in a conversation with Jim when he had to stop to sign a kid's T-shirt or kneel down to take a picture with them. Good folks in my opinion and I wish their family the best in this difficult time.

My point wasn't meant to be a dig at Jim at all. Rather, a compliment. He is great with the kids, who are the future of our sport.

Jim, my prayers and well wishes are with you, your wife and family. This is very difficult and sad news to hear.

I lost my mother to lung cancer when she was only in her 60s. Hardest thing that I ever had to go through. I wish you strength and courage and time with your wife.

Never knew Jim or Louise. I remember being 20 and watching their VHS videos 30 years ago. She was an absolute stunning woman, remember hearing stories of their kindness.

I was in camp with a guy that knew them well. The Shockeys always took time for the fans.

I am not fanatical about anyone anymore as writers or celebs, but they were great.

Really sad news. When such an angel as that leaves us too soon.

I bow my head. We must all go to the end. We will allow follow. The middle part is life, and it is tragic. Yet, it is beautiful when lived well.

Seth, I think Louise was an international model and ballet dancer.

She was always smiling publicly. I think she made it through the end to smile.

The worst part is the ones that come behind in the family who will not get to know her.

Call or visit those folks in your life. Time is ever fleeting.

We are at my ranch this weekend. One of my guests found a Shockey show on TV. It was a rerun . Given that Louise had just passed , it seemed strange to see her and hear her on TV.

RIP Louise .
