Ya, the price some of these places charge for what amounts to "camping furniture" is ridiculous and only highlights the degree to which many businesses try to screw over hunters who they think have big money.
I would bet anything that you could go to the local furniture bazaars armed only with pictures and get comparable and serviceable stuff made.

tendrams,
You hit the nail on the head. These "Creations" are massed produced and as such a Roorkhee chair or Martin safari chair should be $100 tops if made of finest heavy canvas, dense hardwood, and heavy brass. If made of pine and lighter duty nylon "canvas" they should be maybe $30.
To get 4 to 6 made special "one off" custom in Pakastan in rosewood and leather and then shipped to a retailer in Saudi who will mark it up about x4 and gouge me with the western expat gouge price will cost me around $150-$200 each. A Packy or Filipino would probably get the same for less than $100 here.
This is utilitarian mass produced camping furniture and places like African Creations charge for it like was the actual furniture Wellington sat on at Waterloo

Originally posted by ALF: Bill, I actually spoke to Paul 3 days ago, he lives in Vail AZ and has his house in the market for sale, once he sells up he is moving to Belize. I believe he has shut the import business down and is now only consulting and doing the tents etc.
Vail is a suburb of Tucson. I wasn't aware that he still was in our area. He dropped off the screen after the import business folded. At any rate, say hello for me.

I guess plans don't exist, but I thank you all for all suggestions. All referenced companies sell "custom creations" priced the far side of the moon. I'll see if I can get some made based on pictures alone.
I'd guesstimate that there is no more than 6 board feet of wood in one of these. "Bloodwood" costs around $8-9 per board foot from what I googled. The vendor who brought up the cost of wood gets $599 each for these. I think I see a post retirement business opportunity.
