Dave, how do the Le Chameau boots hold up to daily safari use tracking? Also do they run large or small sixe wise? Thanks for your help.

Hi Mike
The LeChameau boot I wear is the Global Tracker, a half boot perfect for Africa. It has stood great on several safaris as well as hunts here in the states. The thing both Craig and I liked right off the bat was the zero break in time on this boot. Very flexible from day one. Craig just returned from an extended Pakistan mountain hunt with a new high top boot from LC and loved it, although it is heavier than you would need on safari. I wear mine to the office about three times a week I like it so much. They trnd to run a bit small though. I normally wear a 9.5 in a regular boot, but needed a 10 in the LC which fit perfectly. It is a great boot for elephant or buff that require walking. I broke mine in on a 14 day Lord Derby eland hunt in CAR where the temp was 100 degrees in the shade. Worked fine there and it would be impossible to find a elephant in Africa that walks more than those damned things !! I think you will like them Mike.

I think I will have seen it all when I see you two guys hunting elephant in knee-high rubber boots! Do you wear breeks with those... you know Will is going to be jealous if you do!

The LC's a generally good boots although all the people I know here that have used them have had problems with the leather ones which will tend to crack accross the tops of the toes. I must know half a dozen that have had this problem here in the UK.

However on the plus side they also have a fabulous customer service which when sent back to them they have replaced or renovated every boot sent back.

Personally I have had this problem on a pair of calf length Mouflons and a pair of Nubuck Wellington boots that split up the back from the heel. I binned the mouflons but intend to send the wellies back to be repaired.

LC is one of the leading rubber boot brands here in the UK and I hear market research has shown a demand for velcro boots in new zealand...

You must catch the sheep before the rubber boots come into play Jeff! Seriously, I have wore the hell out of mine and no cracks yet, same with Boddington. Season three in mine coming soon.

I just ordered a pair from amazon.com; $158. with overnight delivery. I am breaking them in now on a ski vacation. My impression is that they run about 1/2 size larger. Overall I am not too impressed; they aren't as comfortable as I had hoped and they have left a sore area in my instep.
