My dad and I were in Dallas speaking with outfitters and one of our potential hunt options may be Chifuti at their Dande N. Area.

Can anyone comment on the area and Chifuti?

GDOG, watch "Tracks Across Africa" with C. Boddington. If I'm not mistaken, virtually all of his shows in Zim are with Chifuti...and Andrew Dawson as the PH.
I've heard good things about both the area and Chifuti....but cannot give you first hand knowledge of either as I hunted Zim only once and it wasn't Dande North.

Good luck.

Andrew Dawson is a complete gentleman and runs a first class operation. I hunted Dande North in 05 and it is FULL of buffalo. What specie (s) did you have in mind?jorge

I and a buddy have a leopard, buffalo, sable and hippo booked for June and July of this year. I have heard only good thus far. I'll report upon return.

Jorge,
buff and ele. plus croc and hippo. I have obviously watched all the boddington shows with Dawson, but am looking for first hand experience--in Dande N.

We hunt that area with Ben. I spent a week there last season in Sept. The camps are comfortable but not grand. The area is very large and has rolling hills. Part of the area is Communal, part is Parks. It is excellent for buffalo, we saw some large groups and tracked small bachelor herds each day. Probably saw close to 750 buffalo in the week. We had some trouble finding a good trophy though, as the quota for this area is 60 bulls and at the tail end of the season the mature bulls are a little thin on the ground (or really smart). It's reputed to be the best area in Zim for Buff. We also saw quite a few elephant, some surprisingly good kudu, and a smattering of impala, bushbuck, warthog and one good sable. We saw lion tracks (actually found a fresh kill while following buff) and heard them as well, but didn't sight one.

We have most of this on our DVD "Hunting Zimbabwe Today", along with footage of three other areas, free for the asking to bona fide potential clients.
