I haven't stayed over in Johannesburg for years, that's why I'm not up to date as far as the quality of the hotels is concerned. I'm not looking for big places like Holiday Inn etc, it should rather be smallish, personal. It got to be relatively close to the airport. Any good recommendations available?

I just made res at Safari Club SA, safariclubsa.co.za. I stayed there last year and found the facalties very nice. It is closer than Afton House, I have stayed at Afton also but enjoyed the Safari Club more.

Intercontinental right outside the airport. No traffic, no delays, no waiting for pick up, good service, good food, air con and if you want a cheap meal, including an Ocean Basket, just walk over the road and into the terminal. Negotiate an STO or discount rate and a double room is similar to the Afton. Worth every penny!
