is there anyplace where I can find out where local laws and regulations are in place for south Africa ?

as a foreigner hunter I have absolutely no idea what is legal and not ! unfortunately I have to depend on a south African outfitter or p.h. to dictate the regulations.

this disgusts me to no end !

please help !

I assume you mean game laws?

In which case, every province has it's own set of game laws and you don't say which province you're hunting in but if you visit the PHASA website at www.phasa.co.za you'll find the game laws for most if not all provinces.

well thank you for that !!

I have visited phasa and read their entire web site!

are they the official regulatory body of south Africa ?

I have sent them questions as to laws and they are useless as a male warthogs tits !!!

They're the Professional Hunter's Association of SA so not a regulatory body...... each province polices and licences it's own PHs & Outfitters etc but you'll get a lot more response from PHASA than from individual game depts nowadays.

Most of the acts are posted on the PHASA website so all you have to do is read the site, follow the links and you'll fine most if not all of the game acts in their entirety.

The bad news is the acts appear to have been written by lawyers who were paid by the hour so it takes a bit of time to gain a full understanding of them.

I've no idea what your last comment means. I don't know who you're referring to and I don't promote any hunts.........

If you mean Andrew McLaren whilst I don't promote his hunts I do know him and he's a fine gentleman an experienced PH, an honest man and I'm proud to count him as a good friend.

If you have a hidden agenda and want to snipe at Andrew or at anyone else don't involve me because I'm not interested.

If you genuinely want info on SA game laws you can go to the site I mentioned then click the 'legislation' icon at the top and then click 'provincial game laws' from the drop down menu and there are other options on that same menu for things like TOPS regualtions etc etc.

mcchicken or McLaren, u tell all of us ?

pigslayer,

You are not doing yourself any favors by these posts.

Obviously you have some sort of axe to grind, and don't seem to have the courage to come out and state what the problem is.

If you have had a problem with an individual or a company in the hunting industry, and wish to share it with others, come out with all the details.

saeed,

yes your correct. just in a bad mood when I posted. it's a shame when you have a conversation about your hunt and it's the worst experience of your life.

the issue will be shared with the world. due process is running and I must give the authorities their space and time.

going public is a must to help prevent others from unwittingly booking a fraudulent hunt. it's a black eye on the hunting industry and hurts clients, outfitters, staff, taxidermists,...etc. ,just too many to name in the overall scheme of things.

I certainly believe it hurts conservation efforts that we all pride ourselves for supporting.

shakari,

I apologize publicly to you for my posts.

I did edit my posts as it appears as if I was sniping at you. I don't even know you.

it's amazing how a conversation can put one in a bad mood in conjunction with the sight of a 3 ring binder stuffed with documents of a previous hunt. I have removed that from sight ! and I do vow only to open it when necessary or for show and tell.

I also want to thank you for your response.
