I turned on World of Beretta on OLN earlier and they were hunting cape buffalo. I got a phone call and couldn't watch it, but I think it is going to re-broadcast at 10:30pm Central. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Thanks for the head's up. I'll record it and see how it is. One question -- what were they thinking combining a cape buff hunt and a turkey hunt for this episode?

Like everything big game on OLN it could have been good, but they ruined it. Not only did they not provide details, they split it with another hunt? Only 15 minutes devoted to a buffalo hunt in Tanzania. Yep. With OLN's sterling record with PBR (bullriding) and Dangerous Game, I can't wait to see how they're going to do with the NHL - yeah, I know it ain't hunting, but I like hockey, too! I watched the hunt and there were many parts that did not make sense...The hunter shot his rifle off sticks..Holding the rifle with one hand like a benchrest shot and the other holding on to the sticks.. I was surprised it was still in his hand after the shot.. Mike

Sure the show could be better, what in life couldn't be improved. BUT... the brutal progression of complaints drives me crazy! Maybe it’s the nature of these forums, but it seems like a vicious cycle that guys will be crying that there aren't any shows about African hunting. Then one will appear, the first few posts will praise it and then we'll inevitably pick it apart piece by piece, like vultures, until someone declares they are boycotting all of the sponsors because of how, who, or what the hunt was about. Unless there are blatant ethics or legal violations, I for one, am just glad there are a few shows like that on TV. For the most part they are done pretty well and most importantly they usually show hunting in a pretty decent light for those people (voters) that are "on the fence" about our passion. Having guided for wild boar for nearly twenty years (and having 3 degrees studying the silly things) I frankly can't watch more than 30 seconds of a pig hunting show without throwing something at the TV or yelling at the ignorant announcer… but I don’t get on a forum and trash them. For the most part it’s the best they can do, there really isn’t any malice behind the slight misinformation, retakes, faked shots, etc. It’s just TV, we know that probably isn’t exactly how things should have/could have been done but is seems childish to have to constantly point out each variable/inconsistency of each millisecond. Believe me I have to bite my electronic tongue and push away the keyboard each time I stumble across the tread about Tred Barta and his infamous “pig stick’n†show. Breathe… breathe… pick a different forum… breathe. Again, let’s be glad there are a few shows like that. Let’s stand behind them and try to help them rather than tear them down and have them disappear entirely. Nothing personal to any posters above (I feel like trashing sometimes too), but if we (as hunters) don’t support these shows who will??? The animals rights folks… the people that could care less whether hunting was legal or not???… I don’t think so! Okay, I’ll hop off the soapbox now. Kyler

Kyler, you are right. Here lurks keyboard quarterbacks of the first order. They can find fault of guys who have (ACTUALLY) done stuff.

Yeah and then there are the guys on the soapbox talking about guys complaining....... Just teasing. I am in total agreement. We should read and move on or add positive comments. We need to realize these networks are shotgunning trying to find the audience and satisfy the sponsors. I try to record the shows rather than watch-- OLN is set on a regular, weekly record program. Then I zip through and watch what I like without having to watch the stuff I don't care for. Frank

Well, I watched it last night. I'm glad to see they are showing some African hunts, but the quality paled in comparison to Saeed's videos. I guess you can't expect much more when they are editing a hunt to fit a 10 minute time slot. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day.
