Anybody heard of this organization. Website link attached. A friend of mine bought an African Safari for 2 people at a fundraiser and is asking me for advice on how to proceed. This seems way different than the normal SA safari auctioned at a hunters banquet. For one, this was not at a hunters banquet but more of a social fundraiser. I have all his links to what and where but I was curious if any of you had heard of this group or this approach. Thanks, https://my.donationmatch.com/c...sporting-safaris-inc York, SC

sending this to top again to see if anyone has ever heard of them. Open the website. It looks a lot like a yuppie type of organization on the surface that does this to generate funds for various charities. Seems odd but they post they have raised over 11m dollars through this. That seems huge to me and it is significant of course. I have never seen them or heard of them before until my friend bought this donation. York, SC

Larry: I have heard of them as I have been getting some solicitations. Other than that, I don’t know anything about them. Let me make some inquiries. Send me the contact info on the mineral guy.

"Winning a safari" is very common. Usually the trophy fees are more expensive and that's where they make their money up. IOW, the hunt is "free" but by the time you pay your trophy fees you've basically bought a hunt you could buy anywhere, anytime.

I tend to be rather careful. And reading the page on that link does not give me much confidence in them. I don't really know, but the language used tends to raise warning flags for me.

Seems rather suspicious to me that there is no mention of trophy fees on their website. That's a big red flag to me. Tom Z NRA Life Member

your comments are the reason I was asking. a buddy bought this at a fundraiser (non-hunting type) and is not sure what he has got and what questions to ask. When I looked at website, it was pretty strange to me, sort of like, "trust us to make it all work out". We all know how that usually ends up. If they have truly raised more than 11m USD I was certain someone on here would have run across them. York, SC

The website you linked is for the non-profits, to request the hunts that have been "donated". If you click the Visit Our Website, it links to their main website. They are a booking agency out of Mills, Wyominng. Fundraising is one of their services. I don't know anything about them nor the outfitters they represent who donate hunts, but I would not prematurely judge. Call the agency and talk to them, and see who the outfitter is for the hunt he bought. Sounds like any other auction hunt, good or bad.... Here is their facebook for the fundraising / donated hunts: https://www.facebook.com/nonprofitfundraisingideas

I receive emails from this business roughly monthly promoting their hunts. I had never heard of them and put an enquiry on AR asking for more info. IIRC there were no replies which I took as a somewhat ominous sign. I don't know how they obtained my email contact but suspect it was via my SCI membership. Again, IIRC, I think the principal of this business was interviewed on TV by one of the American current affairs shows when there was some debate about hunting trophy imports etc... Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

what is the safari company that donated the hunt? i see donationmatch's website, and gss safaris's site, but i do not see the PH or safari company on the RSA side. I bought a RSA hunt at my first SCI banquet a few years ago and had no idea what i had gotten myself into. i contacted the PH, and after we worked out details my dad and i had the time of our life.

I wsa going to go to Poland to hunt roe deer. the advertised price was somewhere around 1800.00 us. For a roe deer and 5 days hunt. then it comes, you have to shoot 3 deer at 600 apiece, then there is the rifle rental of 250. then of course tips, by the time they were done it was at about about 5000. I cancelled. I like a quote where when I land and get picked up I pay the outfitter and thats it.

Maybe someone can look at the Limpopo hunt web page and tell what outfitter this is: Limpopo Hunt Details When you click on the link to the East Cape hunt it brings up a Mozambique hunt. Mozambique Hunt

Yes, I receive their catalogs in the mail. They are a booking agent, looks an 8 person shop. There are some other posts on this site from folks that have used them. I did not see any bad ones, but did not look real hard either. Their catalog talks about now many donated hunt they have given to charity, that they have surpassed the 10 Million USD mark, last year. Some of their trips look reasonably priced, some not. Some hunts state upgrades available, so those prices most likely are not for B&C, RW, or CIC quality.

I just received a rather fancy brochure/magazine from them a couple days ago that listed all their hunts. Took a quick look through it. Did not see any cape buff hunts listed nor elephants either that I noticed and thought that a little odd. I will look again. That's all I can tell you.
