If they say concession, that's a red flag. They are really ranches with high fences, so calling them a "concession" is misleading marketing. A concession is almost always a very large unfenced area owned by the govt or a tribal council and leased to a safari company, not a 5000 acre fenced ranch. Furthermore, Kimberly is not situated in classic bushveld, acacia veld, or even mopane forest....it's pretty much open grassland. So if you want ambience, stay look elsewhere (same comment applies to the E Cape). Partly right, lots of karroid type veld and certainly a good deal of Acacia tress but mostly just one species, A. karroo. I think its really beautiful along the Orange for instance! Clasic busheld certainly is wonderful though but if thats what you dresire, you can discount large parts of SA (Like the E. Cape as Russ says, awesome bush none- the-less), Namibia, Botswana and Western Zambia for instance. Ah, what the hell am I talking about, I love it all!!!! Areas around Kimberly that have been hammered by overgrazing can be bleak unfortunately. | |||
